Hello, im 7 1/2 months pregnant today with my first child and time is going by super fast! Ive been thinking about labor.... I cant decide if i want to have my baby girl all natural or get an epidural. Has anyone had an epidural and can tell me how it went? Im nervous to get the shot because i dont want to be paralyzed or anything but even more nervous about the pain of having her natural...  please help! Thank you.

I got an epidural with my first 2 and will definitely be getting one again with this one.  Even though it put me to sleep for a few hours, when I woke up I was ready to go.  I ripped on my 1st one and got cut on my second so not having to feel that is good.

I'm just gonna lay it out there so don't let this discourage you in any way, shape or form. Go all natural. You'd be surprise at your tolerance for pain. in my experience with my first, once the pain came from the last few contractions to when it's time to push, my adrenaline kicked making me feel numb once things starts rolling until I felt my daughter's head coming out  of me.and when her head did come out, my goodness, the ring of fire was felt! Then after that ring of fire, I went numb again because everything happened so fast (even though it felt like forever). Whatever you decide on, just make sure in your birth plan you make a note that you're considering epidural (if you totally cannot go all natural or if it comes to a point where you NEED that epidural). Don't think too much about the whole delivery process. It's easier said than done, but definitely trust yourself and go with the flow.

I'll be due in 4 days (but it doesn't seem like my boy wants to come out on his due date, just like big sister), but I'm going all natural again. With my first, to help me cope with my labor contractions until the actual delivery, I opted for this drug (forgot the name) to help keep me emotionally sane. Bottom line is, you do whatever is most fitting for you & your health because baby's gonna come out regardless. Good luck!

I had all 3 of my children natural with no epidural. Im currently 14 weeks pregnant and I dont plan on having an epidural for this labor either. Natural birth is of course very painful yes, but its different for every woman. You may change your mind In the middle of labor and decide you want it. Its your choice and your body. I chose against it and stuck with it till the end although it was very hard. You may end up having a C section and not have a choice in the matter. Either way you will be bringing a beautiful baby into this world

I ended up getting the epidural with my first child and it was the best decision I ever made I was in labor for 27 and half hrs and ended up tearing in 3 different spots so I'm glad I got it cause after I did things were easier and most ppl are worried its going to harm the baby but it doesn't. You will be numb from the waste down until they have u push then they will turn it off but u still won't feel the pain and its kind of scary at first not being able to move your legs on your own but u just have to breath and know its going to be OK and its better to not feel it then it is to feel everything espically if u have a long labor like I did. Hope that helps u : )
