Lovely????

I'm looking for thoughts on the name 'Lovely' for a girl. I want it as a first name but I don't know how that would be perceived so even a middle name would work for me. Thoughts please.

I think Lovely is a beautiful first name. It gives you so many middle name options, lovely joy, lovely hope, lovely Marie... Etc.
You can't worry about what other kids or parents will say about your daughters name. Someone will find a way to make fun of or criticize any name.

I wouldn't name my daughter an adjective. Give her a real name, and just call her by a nickname! :)

My friend named her daughter LaVee. To me that sounds like Lovey. That's what I would do. That way it's not super obvious but you still get the name you want.

When I hear the name Lovely I think intelligent, beautiful, outgoing, strong and the list of good qualities goes on for me. I never thought of the things you ladies are saying, some of them I feel are off base. Porn star? That can be any name goodbye Crystal, Brittany, Lana, etc any name can be dirty. I looked up my name on message boards and people usually say it sounds trashy, like a stripper and other unpleasant things. I've never gotten that impression with my name, I actually get many compliments. I'm sticking to it as a middle name.

You could always name her dejlik (Danish word for lovely) pronounced kinda like darli or dali. Just a thought.

Sorry but it reminds me of a pornstar name. Be careful with unique names like those!

Thank you ladies for the input. I think I'll go with it as a middle name. I have a first name that is closer to her dad's. I can call her Lovely and she can use which ever she wants. Samara Lovely.

It's cute and please don't be offended but it's what my dog is registered under for her akc papers but in all honesty it's your child your decision teach your child to be confident and not let others make her feel lesser for something as little as a name

Lovely sounds more of a nickname. I will not name my daugther that name personaly but thats me because I grew up with a name close to the word "angel" and eveeytime they or someone calls me angel I cringe and hated it. So I dont want my child to feel the same way. Just my opinion though..

I think it would be pretty as a middle name. Just keep in mind that she will have to live with it for the rest of her life. Kids can be really mean and no what if she wants to enter the business world that's male dominated. Will they have a harder time taking her seriously with her name being Lovely on the business card or resume? I'm not being judgmental,  I'm just saying the world is.

My friend named her daughter Lovely. I don't like it personally for my baby if I were having a girl but it is your child and you name her what ever you wish. :)
