In the state of NC the only set guideline is FMLA but it's not a given. You have to meet certain requirements (worked so many hours or been employed for at least 1 year). FMLA is unpaid unless you have PTO to cover it. Short term disability could also be an option if you have it but here it's basically up to the employer and we're an "at will" state so we don't have too many rights in the work place. You're best to do some research in your state of residence since it can vary state by state.

In the US men can get up to 12 weeks. It's the same in every state and every work place because it's FMLA, it's just unpaid.

I'm taking my full 12 weeks so I can be with my baby boy. Full pay and everything but after 12 weeks I can take longer up to 30 weeks with 75% paid which is still not bad at all

By law, you can take 12 weeks off, without pay, and your employer has to guarantee your position will be there when you return (or a position that is identical). They also have to continue your benefits as if you were still working. The 12 weeks does not have to be consecutive. You could do a few weeks here, a few weeks there, as long as it is within 1 year of your baby's birthday. Check out the FMLA (family medical leave act)  website for more details.

I'm due in July and I talked to my boss and she asked me was I taking 6 weeks or 12 weeks off so I'm planning on just taking 6 weeks and yes you take off for 6 weeks I've never heard of anyone that had took off only 2 weeks no....but now your spouse or significant other most jobs let them take off 2 weeks and back to work! That's how my husbands job does for maternity leave!
