Medicaid Question

So me and my fiance are not married so his income was not listed on my medicaid application when i first got it.  Will he be able to be on the birth certificate or will medicaid go after us to pay them back because his income was not taken into account?  He has a different address then me if that changes anything. I think i listed him as the father and his address but i can't remember.  Has anyone else had a similar situation and he was able to be on the birth certificate and nothing happned?

I could not care less about your Internet discount. I'm telling you IF YOU LIVE TOGETHER they can come after you to repay because it is FRAUD TO LIE. Nowhere did you say you didn't live together. You said he pays your Internet bill. Whatever. If you want everyone to sugar coat it for you then that's fine. But if you're lying to get benefits it's against the law. If you are honest and not lying to get benefits then more power to you. And yes, the state can open a child support case in your stead. They did it to my husband because we had different last names and physical addresses and I had to go before a judge to prove he and I were married and he was supporting me already before they dropped it. Every state is different with their laws but it can happen

I didnt care about the internet, and you never said he wasnt living with you, just that he had a different address, which you can have while still living together.  Why dont you call your medicaid office and ask?  If you were honest on your application there is no reason that you couldnt ask about it.

Sarah765 and awh07, apparently you need to go back and re read.... He put MY Internet under his cell phone plan to get ME a discount so It is cheaper. No where did I say he is living with me. He lives in a different city, in a different house. if you're saying its wrong to get a discount on my internet, then I don't really care lol sorry.  As for everyone else thanks for your response.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. You won't have to pay anything back you won't have to file for child support. If you have questions call and ask.

They can't make you file for child support...YOU have to file yourself.  There is no way they can make you especially since your still with the dad. That doesn't even make sense.

It's a type of fraud to lie about it to get help. It says so on the applications.

If you are living together and didnt claim his income then they would be able to come after you.  And I think its wrong to lie about it, even if he has a different mailing address.

If you are living together and they find out about it they can make you pay it back.

I don't have WIC or anything else from the state. They don't help me pay my bills or anything like that. Just the medical bills. If that changes anything.

its actually quite the process to do child support. it can take a few months and they wont start pushing for you to do it until a couple months after the baby is born. you can always tell them that he gives you money every pay day willingly and you dont need to push for child support through ors.

hmmmm... i guess we will see what happens. He pays my internet bill which is in his name because he got me a discount for having his cell phone and internet bill with AT&T but his drivers license and Tax stuff is at his address.

you can list him as the father on the birth certificate. they will ask you to file for child support through ors though.

I think it depends on the state. His ex went down and said she didn't want child support cause they were getting married and they didn't care. The state gets a portion of his money from it so they still filed it

Well I don't need the child support as we plan on getting married shortly after he is here and getting off of medicaid. We are together and he pays for stuff for the baby. We just don't have the same address yet.  What if i don't want to go after him for child support?

As long as hes not actually living with you you are considered a single mother its only when their in the home they will go after him and you for lying. So the fact he doesn't live with you your good after baby they will start the child support processes! Which will help you!!!

Idk but my boyfriend has two other kids and the state went after to him for child support cause she was on Medicaid and food stamps. That was Michigan Idk about other states. I've never heard of that happening here in Texas. But you being on Medicaid has nothing to do with him signing the birth certificate. That's his right as the father
