Not pregnancy related really but please i need advice ):

Please don't judge. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and having a hell of a time with my 20 odd week old labrador, i have a two year old and my boyfriend, now getting a dog was my idea but jeez if i knew what i was letting myself in for.. she's got fleas for a start now we've combed her everyday, used flea drops even the one that costs twice as much from the vets.. flea powder flea repellent flea repellent shampoo /: the fleas have already been biting me and my daughter and we've bombed the rooms the dog isn't even aloud upstairs, didn't make a difference /: not only that but she destroys everything and anything she can touch (including the carpets so I've probably lost my deposit..) she won't stop peeing and pooing all over the house even though she blatantly knows she's to go outside /: so i end up on my hands and knees crawling around picking up the bits and scrubbing the carpets, if i tie her up of a night she breaks the lead. i can't keep up with it anymore i feel like crying this is a daily thing and not just once a day.. i don't know what I'm meant to do /: all my boyfriend says is "i didn't want a dog." I know it's my fault but I've made a mistake and now everyone including my daughter is taking the damage for it.. its making me depressed /: please can someone help me? I have no idea what to do ):

I would find her a new home if she were mine. You will soon have your hands full cus 2 children is so much harder than 1. Dont mean to sound harsh but u need to be practical. Im english too..  thought everyone was American.x

For house training but bells to put on the door and teach the dog that when it rings the bell you will let it out side. That's another thing that has saved me tons of hassle with my 2 dogs I've had sense puppy's.

Crate training does wonders. The puppy will cry at first but just give it time to get used to the crate. Then the crate essential becomes it's room or a safe place my dogs sleep in there crates while the doors are open all the time because they want to. The chance of the puppy going to the bathroom in the crate is very very slim unless they have no other choice. That's their place and they don't want to use the bathroom in it. Give the puppy time to understand what you expect from it. Puppies are like kids they don't know what you expect from them until you show them.

For the fleas, use dawn dish washing soap and get some equine fly spray. It works on my dog

@bignbeutiful i agree /: I'm just pulled, on the one hand i want to sell her I'm only 19 with baby 2 on the way, this is the first time had our own house and it's only been 5 months i do feel like I've bit off more than i can chew but then I've gotta swallow the argument of "you wanted her you can't just flake on your responsibilities" "see this is why i didn't want a dog cause now I'm attached and you just want to get rid of her" and my daughter loves her .___. If i say one thing like omg that dog it's just like "i told you so." I mean i know i wanted her but come on how was i ment to know at 38 weeks I'd still be following it around with a poo bag and disinfectant, my boyfriend helps sometimes but most of the time it's down to me /: it's too much running around for one person especially whos a big fat lump at the moment :l

Well i can say it sometimes takes a long time to potty train. It took my pomeranian a good 7 months until she was FULLY potty trained..no more accidents. Ya malnutrition isnt always the cause, sometimes its just a bad nasty habit(pomeranian eats it too). I was about ready to get rid of my dog but I didnt and finally one day she started barking at the back door to go outside. I just give her a lot of praise when she did. I tried crate training but that didnt work well because i was home all dag and she would bark and want to play! Im a little ashamed even though it worked...my dad is a firm believer in rubbing there nose in their accidents, giving them a spank, and then putting them outside. Its kinda cruel but it did work.. ever since shes been trained she never got another spanking.

I don't know if you'd be able to England. I live in the US. Maybe google 'pet flea dip'. Its just a chemical solution that you mix with water and pour over the dog and baisically wash the dog in it.but like I said you shouldn't handle it if you are able to find it.

Also to add to my first post, our other dog went to a good home that could give her more attention then we could so it works good for her as well. I am also a believer in forever homes but immediately when I found out I was pregnant I knew I had to put my babies needs before the dogs.

:( im really sorry to hear that. I've actually been in the same situation but me and my boyfriend had 4 dogs when I found out I was pregnant. And one was really bad. Even though its sad and I miss her we got rid of her and that ended up being the best choice for everyone because now me ans the baby aren't stressing as much and me and my boyfriend don't argue about it.  We still have 3 dogs and are trying to make it work but our son comes first now so we agreed that the dogs have to go outside now that we are expecting are first baby. Its alot easier that way. Just remember that the baby must come first.

@angle1moses i totally understand that I'm just abit trapped as my daughter loves her and my boyfriend totally isn't supportive of that idea /: (even though that annoys me cause yet it's my job to cleanup/look after her) i broke down and cried about it but i couldn't even sell her at the moment with the fleas and what not /: if she went to another house and caused the same problems i wouldn't be very pleased with myself

The food i get her is one the pet shop said is best for her .___. She's eaten a tub of butter before, as well as gotten into the freezer and eaten like frozen waffles oh and she'll even eat clothes, my dad even gives me pieces of gammon and stuff like that especially for her so i really don't think she's not getting what she needs from her food /:

Your baby is coming and you probably want a clean environment for him/her so i would have to say get rid of the dog... less stress for everyone and everything will be so much cleaner... plus your baby is more important. ..

Thank you I'll definitely look that up (: thing is she's smart and happy enough, she goes for runs she knows a bunch of tricks but it's kinda like she lacks the basics /: i honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong as far as potty training goes >< @juno92 exactly! That's exactly what i was thinking /: i mean i expected this for so long but it's been weeks and weeks and it doesn't seem to matter what i do i always loose .___.

Also...there are a lot of ways to potty train. Do your research and stick to it consistently. If she is eating her poo she could be malnutritious.

It'll get better once the puppy is house trained. My husband and I thought it was a fabulous idea to get a puppy for our son when he was about a month old. And we found a black lab that was just 2 days older than our baby. It was such a fun idea of them growing up together! What we failed to think of was that we would be raising 2 babies at once! We had the dog exactly one night! Haha and then we took him to my husbands parents house for his little sister because they love dogs there and the puppy is now almost 10 months old and well trained and not a handful anymore. I would love a dog but I couldn't imagine potty training and going through all that while being pregnant! Maybe put the puppy in training school or something. Good luck!

We were having HORRIBLE flea infestations too with all our dogs and cats. Look up Trifexis. It has been the only thing that has worked for our dogs. Also u will need to exterminate your home professionslly at this point. Also, dogs are hard work and dont usually come trained. Your going to have to train the dog, if you dont know how then get advice from someone who does or a professional. Labs have soooo much energy, make sure its getting the excersise it needs. Labs are super good dogs if you can train them.

I've never heard of dip o: can i get that in England? As for house training, i keep the backdoor open as much as possible and if she goes outside she's always praised and i give her a treat when she comes back in but i can leave the door open and just have my back turned and she'll just go where she pleases, but everytime she does i just point at it say "whats that? No!" In a stern voice and send her out, she doesn't get a smack for it and sometimes she'll even eat it! Then she's trying to lick everyone eugh ): (turns my stomach that) the point I'm at is like "just sell her you don't need this" but i made a commitment and like my boyfriend says i can't just throw that away, and i don't want to i mean my daughter and boyfriend love her even though i pretty much hate her right now /: if i put her in a crate and she still goes what would i do about that? I've actually had a dog before but i never had any of this /: it's frustrating, even today my boyfriend let her out for like half an hour she comes back in first thing she does is poo all over the place

I have two 8 month old puppies (husbands idea). They are a lot of work but that is to be expected as they are just like children. As hard as it is trying to keep up with them being pregnant I am a strong believer in forever homes. I will never get rid of them. Its not their fault. I recommend crate training not tying the dog up as that causes frustration. You get a crate big enough for them to stand up comfortably and turn around. It gives them a sense of "something of their own", "a safe place". They can stay in it up to 8 hrs a day if your busy. I try not too that long. As far as the fleas I would ask a vet. And the potty training.. she may know to go outside but just like children they need a system/schedule. They will go to the bathroom 20 mins after playing or eating. Just try and put your pup out around those times even if it doesnt need to. I hope that helps!!! Hang in there pup stage is hard but yoj can get through it:)

It will get easier by the sound of it she's still a baby and Is pushing the boundaries to see what she can get away with I'm due in 4 days have a 1 year old and a German Shepard puppy around 9 month old and she was really bad to the point where I didn't want her any more because of the stress but I just bought a dog gate for the kitchen and every time she was bad told her off and put her in there she was also a bad chewer and destroyed everything but as soon as she entered her first season she calmed down slightly still having some problems but I just have to be more firm with her hope this helps

This is why I don't have dogs anymore. But when I did my beagle had fleas really bad and the only thing that worked was dip. If you have a petsmart near you ask them for it, they should know what it is. But you should not be the one to dip the dog being pregnant. It is a hard chemical.  As for the bathroom in the house, are you not training her right? It's only the owners fault if the dog is not taught properly where to go. As for destroying the house, have you reprimand her for doing so? Have you given her toys to occupy her time instead of your carpets? Your dog becomes obedient when you work with them, if your not working with them then thats on you. If you feel its too much, then find her another home. Good luck.
