Slim fast?

Is it ok to drink slim fast while pregnant? I have gained too much weight  so far. I started out tiny and now my mid section is huge! I'm not looking to lose weight but eating hurts. My lower back is in excruciating pain and I know it's from the weight gain and due to my belly sticking so far out. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant and I feel the only option is to eat tiny meals to keep up my energy because after I eat my stomach feels so tight b it just hurts. I feel like I want to boycott eating all together lol so I thought slim fast might help?

I'm eating tons of fruit and organic healthy cereal with almond milk too. Both of those feel light to me and don't cause me pain like heavy meals. Stay away from fried foods, those are torture on an already stretched belly.

I don't think these ppl understand your question. I drink high protein boost every day. It is pretty much the same thing. Yeah there are some questionable ingredients (any prepared food has crap in it) but I eat every 1-2 hours and at 4am, or before bed, or for my 10th meal that day a Boost shake goes down with the least amount of bloating. The vitamins and folic acid in them are great. For me pregnancy feels like gastric bypass surgery. My stomach feels tiny and I can only eat a little at a time. I would recommend carnation shakes or boost because you will get less dirty looks from ppl. It sounds like you are using them like me as a meal addition not a meal replacement.

You can go on youtube and do some pregnancy exercises from there, also try swimming, walking, and eating fruit whenever you feel hungry. Drink only water, cut carbs (as mentioned above), and you should get results. I wouldn't recommend drinking that when there are other choices in trying to not gain un needed weight

I would not recommend drinking Slim Fast. I love Slim Fast. I have a tub in my desk right now because I used to use it as quick meal replacement when things got busy at work. I haven't touched it since I got pregnant. Too many chemicals in the ingredient list. And it contains aspartame, an artificial sweetner which isn't good for you especially if you're pregnant.

If you're concerned about weight gain, but still need to have healthy snacks, try cereal with nonfat milk or a low fat yogurt. If you stick to the recommended single serving sizes, the calorie count is really low.

If you want to go more extreme, try to cut carbs from your diet. All my friends who got gstational diabetes and were forced to cut carbs stayed slim.

Or you can try adding smoothies! I use to do smoothies all the time, but I can no longer stomach them. My midwife actually suggested them because they are healthy! You jus have to be careful that you are not making detox smoothies because that can be dangerous for your little one! They're are so many types that you can make frm fruity to savory! Great way to eat veggies, fruit and even black beans!

A dietary supplement isn't the way to go. Try Carnation Breakfast Essentials instead. They are made with tons of vitamins and minerals that won't work against your pregnancy. I totally understand the stretching and back pain. Our bodies are doing things they've never done before and it's gonna hurt. Just try eating smaller meals/snacks every 2 or 3hrs and the pain won't be bas bad :-) hope this helps

Was thinking of adding it more as a healthier snack, not replacing a meal or using it to diet or anything like that, just was asking if it would be a healthier alternative to something loaded with carbs or sugars.

You need real food. I wouldn't use slim fast as a meal replacement.

No! I don't see how a dieting drink will help you or the baby....your baby needs nutrients from food and whatever you take in so does your baby. So essentially you will be "dieting" your baby. Just eat small and often...you really don't have too long to go your over halfway.
