Suggestions please

Since about midnight I've had contractions off and on, I could not even sleep through them this morning as they hurt my back and were 8 minites apart but I waited it out and they slowed down and faded as I walked 5 miles around my house lol. Well I'm still walking up and down my stairs and doing hip circles and I feel so much pressure and slight stabbing pains inside me, which my doctor told me yesterday is a sign things are getting ready in there. I was only 1 cm a week ago, I'm about 38 weeks & was wondering how can I make this process happen faster? It's my 2nd baby so I thought this part was supposed to be fast lol. I just don't feel like I'm in active labor since the contractions come and go and some get so painful I can barely breathe then an hour later it's just pressure. What options are there to get things going more? I'm so uncomfortable so I'd at least like to make progress in this misery! Also I know I know. Relax, baby comes when ready. But I'm finding it hard to relax with these sporadic contractions. Help please!

I plan on it once I feel like things are actually working. With my first I was in labor for 3 days and got sent home because dilation wasn't happening, despite the 60 second contractions barely a minute apart for a day already. I don't want to go in until I start losing my mucus plug or water breaks or the pain is very unbearable or something more happens so I KNOW it's time. I am still having contractions about every 10 minutes and some take my breath away and they hurt my back and my butt?  Lol idk if that means they're real contractions or not. So far no other signs
