I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this. I just feel horrible. I haven't been this sick in a long time and just the pregnancy is tiring enough. To top it off I got my 6 and 4 yr olds sick also...

Thank you!!! Yes. I have all flu like symptoms and that's why she recommended it. She said if it was the common cold then the medication would bit do anything but if it is the flu then I will feel better soon. Amazing how it took about 20 pharmacies for me to find the medication. Thanks for the info.

Tamiflu is completely safe for pregnant mama's. I'm a pharmacy assistant, a dispensary assistant and used to be a medical receptionist and a practice manager. So I'm partially aware of what's safe and whats not (obviously not as advanced as doctors and pharmacists) but it is most definitely safe to take. It's generally used for Influenza though not just a common cold. Start on them as soon as you can so things don't worsen as influenza can be deadly to yourself or your baby (if that's what it is). Good luck.
