A glass of milk actually cures mine and I have GERD before the pregnancy so this pregnancy is killing me lol. If I have heartburn before bed I drink a glass of milk and it works better than my tums have been working.

I take a prescription called Protonix prescribed by my OB. Works for me. Um milk is a big no no for heartburn. Actually makes it worse. Milk products are actually harsh for all kinds of digestive issues, as milk curdles up with the acid in the stomach and causes acid production to increase. Imagine adding lemon juice or vinegar to a glass of milk. Gross. Glad it seems to help some people, but for most of us, makes it worse.

If you are wanting an all natural try some therapeutic grade essential oils. Ones that help are lemon, peppermint (be careful with how much as it can decrease milk but not too much), and one that is a mix called digest zen. You can add to water or milk and use all day.

Apple cider vinegar mixed with water and/or try chewing some gum. I've been taking tums, getting kind of sick of them and found these alternatives. They work and are safe.

The new soft chew tums are like a Starburst not chalky at all.  Call your doctor Zantac and Pepcid are both stronger options that most doctors are okay with.

Tums also has the chewy ones. I don't really mind tums. I buy the smoothie ones. They're not as hard and they don't seem as chalky. Also milk is supposed to help and ice cream. But it doesn't do a whole lot for me.
