If you took that personally you should not have. You just said she couldn't eat or drink any of that stuff and none of that is true that you can't eat. Even sushi is fine to eat as long as you eat it in moderation. I know that most pediatricians do not give the same instructions, but only websites is where I have seen that long lists of do nit eats and most of them are blown way out of proportion. I do my research and also go from personal experience. Don't look that as negative I didn't say anything hurtful you are just taking it personally abd getting offended. Not my fault :)

Hi Jennifer! My OBGYN and licensed nutritionist gave gave me the list. They explained lynch to Lysteria, etc. Caffiene the said to keep at 30-60 grams a day. Read the same info in a Parenting magazine......not any online sources.

I live near Seattle in USA. You will find that women within the states and from other countries are told different things by thier physicians, based on thier physicians opinion and where they are located in the world.

You are not wrong. I am not wrong.

My Dr.s and the local culture in my area seem to lean on the more cautious side of nutrition, and yours are a bit more relaxed.

No need to make personal negative remarks about others valid posts sharing knowledge.

Have a healthy pregnancy, and please remember that what people share here, may be a different opinion from your own, based on thier medical providers advice. Unless someone is sharing stuff that HURTS mom or baby, it's all good!

These forums answer quick questions,but each mom should be speaking to her own physician (-;

Stay Positive People!

You can have up to about 200mg of Caffeine a day without it being dangerous. Also, you can eat any kind of cheese you want do not be scared. The only reason they say not to is because there is a higher chance of you gettting listeria from moldier cheeses which anyone can get. When your pregnant you are more susceptible to these types of things, but I ate blue cheese dressing whenever I had a salad and was fine. My doctor also said I coule have a soda a day and that's not harmful. Deli meats are also FINE to eat. They don't recommend eating processed meats like salami or pepperoni cold because it has a higher chance of giving you food poisoning as well. If you heat it up your fine. All other deli meats like turkey and ham are just fine. Im sorry, but that other girl who told you all.that stuff you can not eat is reading every rumor off the internet and not even why you can't eat them. If you are truly worries ask your doctor. There will be very few things he tells you that you can not eat.

You are correct! You can have 30 grams of caffiene each day.

Decaf coffee still has small amount. So does chocolate!

12 oz. Coke has 34 grams of caffiene in a single serving. It contains high fructose corn syrup and phosphoric acid....and has ZERO positive nutritional value for your body or your baby. It's emty sugary calories that contribute to excessive weight gain during pregnancy, and contributes to American Obesity.

Pregnancy is a wonderful time to learn about proper nutrition and portion sizes! The knowledge will help you to stay a healthy weight during pregnancy, and will help baby to develop normally.

Once baby is born, you will have a better understanding of what to feed your baby/child so that they can grow healthy and strong, without becoming obese.

I once weighed 305lbs, drank a minimum if a liter/32oz coke per day, ate poorly, did not get enough exercise....

We as individuals do choose to be fit or fat!

Nutrition education and following a healthy eating plan can allow us to be a healthy weight, have a healthy pregnancy, and break the o esity cycle in our families for our kids!

I found some little 6oz cans if coke and do drink one 1x - 2x month in social settings ad I don't drink alcohol....I just don't do it daily, and not while pregnant

The rules are to protect you from the POSSIBILITY of food poisoning. So if you just have to have a (insert item from above here) and you do it in moderation and only from reputable sources, you SHOULD be fine. In my pregnancies (this is my third) aside from alcohol and drugs/smoking, which I don't use anyway, the only thing I don't eat is mold-ripened cheese, and raw meat/seafood. To be honest, I never eat those things anyway. But I eat ham sandwiches, and eggs over easy, and soft cheeses. You personally have to weigh the pros and cons and decide for yourself.

You can have caffeine. There is a limit to the amount. Like just a couple cans a day. I am almost 30 weeks and drink a coke almost everyday.

If possible, eat 60-80 grams of protien a day....Every time you eat eat a little red meat, egg, milk, peanut butter, cheese, yogurt, milk, Cottage cheese, chicken, string cheese. These foods are high in protien and will keep you full longer....baby needs protien.

Eat as many fruits and vegies as you like.

Eat bread or cereal 1-2 times a day with meal.

If you are sick and need to take over the counter medicine but can't get to the Dr. Then ask a pharmacist what you can take based on your symptoms and pregnancy
