Yeast Infections!?!

I went to the ER for and ingrown toenail infection and the doctors put me on antibiotics safe for the baby, and now I have a yeast infection.. and I have a doctor's appointment Monday for the pap smear and all that jazz. The question is have any of y'all ladies ever had a yeast infection while being pregnant, or from a pregnancy in the past, recent or your current pregnancy now... and how did you get it to go away? Also can it do damage to your baby?

If they aren't prescribing anything I would go grab the Three/seven day cream and some probiotics.  Probiotics should be taken with antibiotics to prevent this, but can help after the fact too:)

Yeast infections are common in pregnancy. If you have a Dr visit/pap smear... they will most likely give you the meds to make it go away.  I had that happen the last pregnancy.

I had one a couple weeks ago (I was 11 weeks). It was a 7 day treatment but it wasn't monistat. It was a cream though similar to it. I'm allergic to monistat though. This was safe to take. You definitely want to get it treated. I had a terrible one once that I let go for awhile because my doc at the time said it wasn't bad and my body would take care of it and it went to my kidneys! It hurt so bad!

I just had one. My dr wrote me a prescription for a three day dose which was very similar to what you can get at the store. He said that its not safe to use those before 12 weeks.

I'm currently fighting my second yeast infection in the past month. Both times I got the vagistat 3 day treatment. Also eat yogurt because the bacteria in yogurt is the good bacteria found in the vagina that eats the yeast. When that bacteria is killed off, by anti bacterials or for other reasons, it allows the over growth of yeast. I got a yeast infection last years when trying to fight a sinus infection.

I just had a yeast infection and my doctor said to go to Walgreens and get over the counter clotrimazone. They have different treatments, but I got the 3 day one. It is safe during pregnancy and definitely helped. Although, because it is a cream you insert like a tampon, I do suggest using a panty liner or extra pad to catch the leakage. Also, it is supposed to be applied at night before bedtime, but it is definitely worth giving it a shot.

But I would try not to use monistat if you have the appointment Monday it will mess with the tests. You can try vagisil wipes as well.

I am diabetic and I am prone to yeast infections so I had to ask in case. They told me pro b for prevention and Monistat 1 not the 1 day but 3 or 7 and do not insert more than an inch. I hope this helps.
