The mucus plug is what sits in your cervix protecting baby from getting any infections. Some women can loose it at stage of pregnancy but it can grow back but generally closer to term it means baby shouldn't be to long from being born.also some women don't loose it until labour is established while others loose it but are in aware that they have. It's snot like in texture and kinda like phlegm. It can be clear or blood thinged Google mucus plug and it will bring up images that's how I new I lost it with my first I hope this helped you @ northern mam

Can we elaborate on this mucus plug for a moment? I've read it in a few forums now... Is this something you lose when baby is re-positioning for birth? (Sounds silly but I haven't actually heard of this and I am only early with my first pregnancy)

Im due in 13 days. We've already been to the hospital on tuesday night with contractions 3 minutes apart but not dialted past 3cm so we got sent home. So sore and can bearly walk or sleep. Were both definitely frustrated and ready for her to come!

I'll be having my daughter on Monday, I'm not dilated or anything. No Braxton hicks.
