becoming vegetarian again?

So I had been a vegetarian for 8 years before becoming pregnant. About five months into it my doctor said my iron levels were too low because I didn't absorb the iron from the vitamin correctly. So to make sure my baby was safe she recommended I eat at least one type of animal protein. She recommended fish since I would also lack omega vitamins without it. So I started eating fish, in moderation of course to avoid mercury. I'm wondering if you think it would be alright to stop again after she's born, if I plan to breastfeed? I think if I eat plenty of leafy green veggies it'll be alright, I just want a second opinion. Thanks!

They have meals put there for vegetarians that are high in protein. Many people and doctors do not know about these things because they don't do research or think being vegetarian is bad. When I told my doctor about them he was shocked. Walmart and Kroger both have sections for people like us. Morning star is a great brand. They have burgers, breakfast items, porkless bbq, chicken patties, etc.. all are made out of 100% veggie protein and many have more protein in them than meat. You should check them out.

We'll your iron levels where low. You baby will get all her nutrients from you. I think u should still eat fish while breastfeeding. Eating your veggies is great too. I wanted to go on a diet after having my baby last year. My doctor told me it was to soon since I was breastfeeding.

I'm a vegetarian and have no plans eating meat at all during this pregnancy. It shouldn't be a problem to go back as long as you do it right. My doctors were giving me a hard time about it in the beginning about how my blood work could come back bad but after it came back perfect they backed off. The thought makes me sick to go back to eating meat. I have craved things but refuse to eat it.
