epidural?

I'm 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I'm honestly terrified of child birth I have a very low pain threshold but on the other hand I'm scared to get an epidural and hearing the after effects of it makes me worry. ..I already suffer from severe back pain... Any opinions from people who have been there?

I've had three pregnancies and all except my first I've had the epidural. It helped a bunch, I couldn't deal with the contractions it was too much. I've had no side effects what so ever from it either. But everyone is different and it all depends how your body reacts to it. But it is a Big help to not feel them contractions: ) Good Luck: )

I had it with my first. You wont feel the needle because you are in pain from the contractions.  I sat down and bent over the side of the bed. Contractions eased up but I still felt the push.  Afterwards I was fully aware and fully functional.  I had a good anesthesiologist.

I've never been there yet but maybe try pain killers through a IV my friend just recently had her baby and that's how she got her pain medication she didn't have an epidural
