epidural or natural?

Im 34 weeks and im not sure whether or not i should get an epidural or not. Ive been told that an epidural can somtimes make it harder for you to push. Is that true? What are your experiences?

I was with my friend when she gave birth. She went natural because even though the doctor warned her an epidermal was perfectly safe she got it in her head it wasn't. Then I watched her out of no where get a tear that tore up. It was so bad and the agonizing scream I heard her throw out made it so I'll definitely get an epidermal. She had 16 stitches from it. Even if I could handle the labor pain I won't even attempt. It was traumatizing.

I was induced with both mine and with having kidney stones on top of that I was spent and done with pain. My 2nd I was given a little pain killers and was able to not get one. They really were pushing me to get one with my 2nd and I hated that.

I have my two first kids natural. With the 3rd one i got induced and i could not handle the pain after i was only 4.5cm so i ask for the epidural. I got a catheter but i did not feel anything when they put it. My son went out in one contraction with three pushes.

Well then the epidural will be your best friend! I'm a whimp too. I have zero pain tolerance. But you never know, in that moment you could pull through! Good luck!

I wanted to go natural with my first but I got induced with pitocin so the contractions were rediculous and labor was 27 hours long so I caved and got an epidural 17 hours in. Hopefully if I don't get induced this time I want to attempt natural again. Getting the epidural wasn't bad. It actually worked out for me with little regrets but I know natural is better so I want to attempt. My sons heartrate would drop with contractions do I had to have an oxygen mask most of the time and it took a while before I could walk after birth. However, I never had any issues pushing. I actually got my son out in just 8 minutes so I have no complaints there. The biggest issue I had with the epidural was that I suffered from pretty bad back issues after. My back felt swollen and hurt to move. And even now 9 months later I still have days where it hurts. Hope this helps you make your decision. Good luck mama!

I had one. Did not have any problems  pushing nor did it cause any mental or physical damage to my son he hit all his major milestones and he is now 6 , matter of  fact  my son came  out in 3 pushes just didnt feel it. When you start feeling the pain of those contractions, and it becomes unbearable you decide if you want it or not.

With my first two kids I had an epidural and my labors were very long! First was 24.5 hours and pushed for 2 and second was 17 hours and pushed for over half an hour. Also you have to have a catheter with an epidural and for me at least it was miserable! My third child I had natural and was so much easier... 7 total hours of labor and pushed for 4 minutes. Epidurals are nice for pain relief but do lower babies heart rate and make baby nor sluggish. also can cause issues if your planning to breast feed since baby is more tired. I will be going natural again this time around

It can make it harder because it slows down the baby's heart beat and make him/her lazy. Natural is the best and healthier for u and baby both. You will also be able to recover much faster. I had my daughter natural and unless I for some reason have to really have to get a c-section I will plan to have this baby natural too
