gestational diabetes

So I failed the 3 hour glucose test and they said I have gestational diabetes, I have been keeping track of what I eat , highest my blood sugar has been was 170 and that was 1 hour after eating some cereal with honey normal rang it has been running tho is 85 to 100. They say baby is fine and at the right growth rate but they keep freaking me out with this , if baby is fine I'm fine I have always eaten healthy and didn't have this with my first pregnancy.  Would like more info on what foods to avoid and just some support.

I have gestational diabetes as well and check my sugar 4 times daily. Your sugar levels are highest in the morning so u want to avoid anything high in sugar or carbs for breakfast. Try eating smaller portions rather than few larger meals.

I have gestational diabetes too and after meeting with a dietician its really not as bad and scary as it sounds :). She helped me understand how it affects not only me but also my baby and she also helped me with a meal plan. Watch your carbs!!! Sugar is important too but what you need to look at when preparing a meal is the total carbohydrates. I have to check my sugar level four times a day. I am allowed three main course meals and three snacks in between including a bedtime snack. For breakfast no more than 25 total carbohydrates so I usually have two eggs, a piece of whole wheat toast, and three pieces of turkey sausage. For snacks I can have up to 30 total carbohydrates and for snacks I usually have granola bars and a Clementine or a Greek yogurt. For lunch and dinner I can have up to 45. So far this plan has worked for me and has kept my sugar levels low and great! Avoid having milk and fruit for breakfast because they contain sugar. No juice or pop or flavored coffees with a ton of sugar. I have stuck with water and propel when I need some flavor lol. If I can help you with anything else don't hesitate to message me! :) good luck hun and everything will be fine! Im 38 weeks and doing great along with my baby boy♡

I had the same experience with my second pregnancy, and the gd was perfectly managed with diet. If you can manage it with diet, that's great! Everything should be fine with you and baby.

I didnt have gd with my first son 4 years ago, i'm now 37 weeks with my second and have it this pregnancy.i was put on a low carb diet and have to check my sugar 4 times a day.i sometimes go over allowed carbs a little but everything level wise and baby has been good. i'm sure it depend per woman but i had to see a nutritionist to make a meal plan on how many carbs i can have each meal and snacks.she had a list for me of howamy carbs are in portions of certain foods im sure you can find a good chart on google too. Id say just make sure you watch carbs.its amazing how many carbs are in everything even things i thought were healthy for you like raisin bran and bananas. :)
