how far along to find out sex?

This is my first child.  I'm nervous, anxious, excited. I was wondering how far along i have to be to find out if I'm having a boy or girl. I'm only 12 weeks and have an appointment tomorrow.  Too soon to know?

I am 16 weeks today and just found out about 2 hours ago that i am having a beautiful little princess. I believe it all depends on where you go to find out.

Usually 19-20 weeks is when they will schedule the ultrasound. At this ultrasound they will check all of the baby's organs and such. It's really neat. But be warned some babies are stubborn and you may not find out the sex of your little one at that appointment. We almost didn't at ours. The ultrasound tech found the sex literally in the last 5 min, and she had to work for it and move my belly a bunch.

If your willing to fork over about 120$ pink/blue is a company and private lab that does what is called a free DNA test, it looks for bits of babies DNA that is in your blood stream. They claim over 95% accuracy as early as 7 weeks. It's less accurate for moms who have had more than one pregnancy resulting in a boy. Some regular obgyn's can offer the test and it doubles as a genetic screening for disorders. Insurance will not usually cover it in full, my bestie only had to fork over 25$ and it was correct. Her first pregnancy she used a different test bought through walgreens pharmacy and it was incorrect and 75$.

Oh wow, 14 weeks is the soonest one of those gender places can tell. I did the downsyndrome testing and all that and when they did the ultrasound she was 100% positive what I was having I was only 13 weeks.

Most doctors do a gender check closer to 20 weeks, that way they can check and make sure the babe is developing properly

You can get a blood test done...it tests for abnormalities and also gives the gender. You can do that as early as 9wks and most techs can tell gender at 16wks on a sono

They won't tell you definitely this early. Usually around 16-20 weeks to make sure.
