labor & contractions

When you start having contractions, can that mean you will go into labor soon or within a couple weeks? I'm 34 weeks, 35 Monday & I have been having what they called 'mild' contractions for the last week.. can I expect to go into real labor soon or no?

Well if your having mild contractions now your body is certainly gearing up to the real deal..during hard contractions your stomach will get rock hard it will feel very intense..trust your instincts you will know when its time to go to hospital..good luck

I just find that weird as if u before 37 weeks u would be in premature and they wouldn't want u to have baby that soon as it might be with complications I hear they can give u something to actually stop labour if spotted soon so what u said and that they let u go home just don't match to what I actually read.... well hope Ur baby will be fine xxx

No they are Def contractions. They Picked up at the hospital as actual contractions, not Braxton hicks. She said what I'm feeling are contractions, just mild

There was girl on here saying she had contractions for weeks lol! Felt sorry for her. So u just have to wait and see. Have warm bath (I unless Ur water break or leaking then check with hospital) and just relax if pain it's really bad then go back and tell them u need something for the pain. Not much I can help sorry. Good luck hope u hold Ur little baby soon! P.s if u can bare pain try to maybe move around? It would help to go into labour and delivery so maybe give it a try?

They're Very Sporadic! They get real intense at first & are on &off about every 5-7 minutes. Sometimes every 10 minites. They last about 2-4 hours & then go away. :/ last 2x I went in they monitored them but weren't regular enough & sent me home. Said don't come back unless they are VERY strong.

Real labor starts after 37 weeks. Before that your baby's premature

Premature Labor

Symptoms
To stop premature labor, you need to know the warning signs. Acting fast can make a big difference. Call your midwife or doctor right away if you have:

Backache, which usually will be in your lower back. This may be constant or come and go, but it won’t ease even if you change positions or do something else for comfort.
Contractions every 10 minutes or more often
Cramping in your lower abdomen or menstrual-like cramps. These can feel like gas pains that may come with diarrhea.
Fluid leaking from your vagina
Flu-like symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Call your doctor even about mild cases. If you can’t tolerate liquids for more than 8 hours, you must see your doctor.
Increased pressure in your pelvis or vagina
Increased vaginal discharge
Vaginal bleeding, including light bleeding
Some of these may hard to tell apart from normal symptoms of being pregnant, like backache. But you can't be too cautious. Get any possible warning signs checked out.

It all depends on your body. You can stay in promodal or luteal phases for weeks before active labor starts.
