no hate please..... is anyone else struggling to quot smoking?

I'm 17 wks and I'm struggling to quit smoking, I also have bipolar and panic disorder and straight away had my meds altered to be safe and not drinking was fine to (I mean I had a certain amount of withdrawals from it all) but I've had a lot of stress this pregnancy first worried I would miscarry again then just general constant stressing about how bubs is doing. I'm finding the more I try to quit the more I smoke gahhh I feel like such a **** person

I'm 34 and was a smoker for 17 years. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to quit when I found out I was pregnant. Luckily when I was going through my first trimester I constantly felt sick so that helped me quit right away. I'm 18 weeks and haven't had one sense.  I would ask your doctor what you can do to quit that will work for you. To be honest..your baby doesn't deserve to develop problems because you can't quit. I would do everything in your power to try and quit now. Lock yourself in a room if you have to..but please try.

I don't smoke but I was taken off my antidepressants when I found out I was pregnant. The withdrawals alone are horrible so I think you're doing an amazing job quitting everything. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be. But I'm sending you a big pat on the back!! Have you thought of alternative therapies like hypnotherapy or sacrocranial? Good luck :-)

I had a hard time quitting. But right before I took a test I smoked a cigarette and told myself if it was positive I would quit. Obviously there were two lines. And I haven't smoked since. I watched a video about what goes on when you smoke when pregnant, and I cried and felt bad for even wanting to smoke. Now I'm 9 months and I still have cravings but I tell myself it's not worth the guilt I'm gonna feel after. Good luck. It's hard. But it will be worth it and no you will be so proud of yourself.

Thanks everyone, my doc said no to the patches as they put nicotine in your body 24 hrs but to try the gum and to slowly cut down as withdrawals could make my body go into stress and cause more damage to bubs. Guess I'll take it one day at a time and keep my fingers crossed

Im not a smoker but your concern and interest in trying not to smoke is a good start. I'm praying that God gives you strength. You can do it!

I quit at 5 weeks, as soon as I found out. Whenever I wanted one, I would tell myself that it is ok for me to choose to poison my lungs but I can't make that choice for someone else, especially not my baby. 15 weeks and still crave one now and then but just keep reminding myself and keep hard lollies in my bag. Good luck :)

Quitting sucked so bad, especially since my husband was such a pain in my rear for the whole first trimester. I bought one of the blu disposable e cigs and weaned myself off that way. It was $10 and lasted a week. I haven't smoked in a little over a month and still have cravings but don't give in. 19 weeks tomorrow.

Remember you are quitting for someone else,  not yourself.  Every one has a certain level of stress in their lives, you just need to find your way to manage it. Bipolar disorder is a challenging one to tackle, but you can do it.
Find a hobby that got enjoyed when Holy were younger.  Best of luck.

I am 25 and I have been a smoker since I was 16. Before I got pregnant I started smoking electronic cigarettes and I stopped smoking the E- cigarettes as soon as I found out I was pregnant , which was when I was 6 weeks pregnant, I think. No one in the world love smoking more than I do but because of E-cigarettes It was so much easier to stop. I am sorry u r having health issues but u have to stop smoking as soon as visible.  U don't want to ruin ur own child's life by giving a birth to a child with serious health problems. I hope this will help u to be on the right path.maybe u can start yoga or some other excersise that will help u with stress as well. Remember only u can control ur life, what u do and now only u can control ur child's life. Good luck my friend.
