okinawa

There's a 90percent chance that we're moving to Okinawa just before the baby is born.  Does anyone who is living there (or has lived there within the last decade) have any tips about the military hospital, or places to visit in Japan, or what to prepare for in general?

I live in okinawa now. We have been here for about 7 months and have a little over two years left. We live on kadena afb. Not sure what branch u r, but airforce and army usually live here. We start out at kadena 18th medical and at 20 weeks they transfer us to camp foster. I have only been to foster because my last pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage . I am about 5 weeks pregnant now and im being sent to foster due to two previous miscarriages. Camp foster obgyn is awesome. Ive also walked through the rooms u deliver in and they r great too. Everyone is so sweet there. Okinawa is a very beautiful place. Im from the east coast so im not used to the pretty crystal clear water. We love going to the beach, actually thats the only thing we did the first few months lol. The zoo is also great. I have a 3 year old and she loves it. They have a little ride section she loves. Its also cheap. Free for 3 and under and 300 yen for everyone else. Check out okinawahai.com and totalokinawa.com. There is somuch to do here , i could go on forever. Oh and make sure for ur flight here u bring cash. We were layed over in tokyo all night. They put us in a very nice hotel but we could only get food at 711 because we only had our credit card, we didn't plan for a overnight stay. U will love it here. If u have any questions let me know.
