Does anyone know if your boyfriend is self employed are they entitled to any paid leave ? Thanks

Self employed, or not he's not entitled to benefits unless he signs up for it via some sort of insurance agency he has for his company.  Same with women who go on FMLA leave, they don't get paid just for being on leave unless they have signed up and paid for short term or long term disability insurance benefits.  Otherwise, ur on ur own when ur not working.

Are u asking if the government will pay for him to be off work? So in other words are you asking about having paid time off? The answer is No. He is self employed.  He doesn't have the same benefits as a company employee unless he has been paying for benefits. When you leave on maternity your job pays you up to a certain point/time. You "short term leave" that you pay into as a US Citizen will pay for "disability" for the women. I man may take Family Leave but that is not paid by the government so he will have to pay himself as he is self employed. No if something was to happen that didn't allow you to physically be capable of taking care of the child and he was deemed the primary care taker there are certain assistances you can apply for and I don't know much about that. It is the employer who pays for the leave DEPENDING on the company.  I am part time now. I stepped down in order to start a family. My company won't pay for maternity leave for part time employees unless you've been with them for a minimum of 2 years. Full time are eligible from the start. So it different from company to company but unfortunately self employed men are exempt as they pay their own salaries and they do not get paid for disability leave because they are not pregnant and giving birth
