unsure

I'm not sure how to tell the difference between a braxton hicks or a contraction. My muscles were tightening and then letting go earlier and it was like 13mins. And 20 mins apart. And now its stopped but i have a light pain in my lower abdomen region..and kinda goes farther down that area too..I'm not sure if i should be worried or not? Ideas? I'm 29+4days. Thanks..

I've had Braxton Hicks since 16 weeks...At 28 weeks I was at work and the Braxton Hicks had been happening night and through the morning then all of a sudden they stopped and I had what felt like HORRIBLE period cramps...I called my on call doctor and she told me to go be monitored...After being on the monitor for 2 hours and nothing but Braxton Hicks showing they were going to let me go home...While the doctor was in the room discussing discharge with me I had my first set of true labor contractions and they were SOOOO painful! I had 4 of them that were so strong they were off the monitor and about 2 hours later I had my second set of 6...I was told to go ahead and go home and to push fluids and if they continued to get stronger and closer to come back! I haven't had any since and I am now 33 weeks but what I can say is you know your body and I knew that day something wasn't righg! Always listen to your gut! The doctor also said to take Benadryl and Tylenol and if they stop it was Braxton Hicks of they don't go be checked! With all episodes of Braxton hicks mine have stopped with Benadryl and Tylenol! Good luck!
