what does stripped mean?

So this morning I went in for my 37 wk check up. My doctor checked my cervix and asked if I wanted to be stripped, which I said sure since she has only measured my belly past appts but not done anything internally. Anyways she told me my cervix was about 1 and a half cm and that I wasn't deep enough to get stripped. But now I'm curious to what that means to get stripped?

P.S. she warned me that I would probably spot after checking my cervix which i Did. Even though she warned me I couldn't help but feel scared when I saw blood in the toilet (sorry if TMI). Lol is just a scary feeling after many months of not having a period and knowing you're pregnant to all of sudden see blood.

I was past my due date when I was stripped. It didn't help me none making me go into labor any sooner.. I was then scheduled for inducing days after being stripped. .

I had mine stripped with my first baby. Never. Again.
I went into labor that night. My water broke and I was having contractions but I wasn't dialating. I ended up with an emergency c section. I really wish I knew what it was and wish I had said no.

I had mine stripped at 37 weeks to try an help me go into labor with my Don more natural. Due to the fact that I had diabetes.  Now for me it was extremely uncomfortable an ineffective.  Each week they stripped mine as the membranes can reattach themselves.  My son was still born over due. You can Google it to find out more detailed infor

They insert two fingers into your cervix and separate the bag of waters from your uterine wall. It is rather uncomfortable and should not be done before your due date.

Cool she did mention something about being able to help me go into labor which I'm so ready for. I'm already over being pregnant, I just want to have my baby girl in my arms already. :)
