High HCG Levels

i have just found out i am pregnant again this year after a miscarriag and ectopic. My physician is following my levels closely and they roughly quadrupled in 72 hours going from 78 (3 weeks 3 days) to 308 (3 weeks 6 days).  My last check was at 5 weeks 3 days and they were at over 15000.  My friends are teasing me that that means i will be having twins.  My US is scheduled for next week.  Does anyone have any experience with this to weed out the myths?

My levels were completely normal for a singleton pregnancy. The ONLY way to know if it's more than one baby is an u/s confirmation.

though levels of HCG vary alot from woman to woman, the levels you have described are probably quite normal, i calculated my levels doubling just eve though mine more than double in two days when they were checked, i am 5 weeks 3 days today and counting from my last check doubling mine would be about the ame as yours and i have had a scan because of pain, and I am only having one lol, though the levels are a good sign of a normal ongoing pregnancy. Good luck to you this time and i hope all goes well for you :)

Mine doubled every couple of days and turns out it was twins. But that is not necessarily an indicator as every woman is different.  Let us know!!!!!

My HCG levels were also high when I found out we were preggers. In my case, we are having twins but I have heard from many woman that high HCG is not an indicator of twins - an ultrasound is. I wouldnt get too excited about the twin idea, so you dont get your hopes up. But if you are expecting multiples than how excited would you be!! :)  Congrats on your pregnancy and keep us updated.
