Recommendations for good strollers and car seat for twins

by Maya39, Oct 10, 2009 08:24PM
I'm seeking the help of all mothers of twins out there. Please share with me your advice on the best equipments for twins. If you know of products I should avoid, please let me know. I'm looking for recommendations on car seats, cribs, strollers and any other items that you deem necessary for twins. I'm due next March and feel clueless so far. Please help.

i have been using the same type of car seat i used with my single, just 2 of them.  the graco infant safe seat.  i bought the graco duo glider because the 2 infant car seats both fit in it at the same time.  i bought another infant swing so that i have two now. i like the fisher price smart stages swing because the seat comes off the swing and you can put a twin in each seat put the seats on the floor and feed them at the same time if they want to eat together.  i don't think it matters what crib you get eventually you will need two anyway.

if you are going to nurse i suggest getting the Medela pump in style pump.  the one i am using now i also used for my 1st daughter.  and make sure you have plenty of bottles so that you are not washing them every five mins.

if i think of anything else i have found handy (besides ear plugs) during the past 3 1/2 months i'll let you know.

I am also due twins around the same time as you and was completely stumped by what to get-however after a little research I decided on the Jane Powertwin pro. It fits two car seats on and weighs very little compared to some doubles, it is also a three wheeler which makes it ideal for the beach, and is also small when folded. Have you thought about joining a twin club its great to meet mums in your area that have or are having twins and alot of equipment is passed around. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you so much. I looked at the Graco duo products and there are the Graco Montreal Twins Travel system, the Graco Rittenhouse and the Graco Sachi among other things. Which one do you have? Again, thank you for the advice and would appreciate any other recommendations you can think of.

I have the Graco DuoGlider.  The one thing i don't like about that one and it is not a big deal now since they are still in the infant car seats and i just pop them in is that the seats can not be moved into different positions.  the more expensive ones allow you to say have both children face each other once they are out of the infant seats.  but otherwise i like this one and it isn't too expensive.

I have the kolecraft Contours options.  So far it is awesome.  You do need to purchase and extra car seat adapter ($20 online).  Both seats adjust forward and rear facing and are the same size with plenty of leg room for both.  It is easy to turn and I think has more room than the graco duoglider for both storage and babies.

I have the Graco DuoGlider and the only thing I do not like about it is that the rear seat only has two positions- straight up or laying flat. So I just put the diaper bag strap across the handle of the stroller and it holds the seat about halfway in between. I also have the Baby Trend infant carriers and I don't like them as much as I did the Graco infant seat I had with my son.

My twins are 7 months old and still sleep in the same crib. Once big brother moves into a bed I will separate them.
