mines for 2hours.fasting beforehand for 6 hours. having food in your stomach is going to effect how you process the sugars. they should take 2blood samples one during and another after. eating could stuff up results.

I wouldn't worry about the test too much in reality if you're going to fail, you're going to fail. And if you do, It's better to know you have gestational diabetes than not know you have it :)

For the 1hr glucose test they didn't tell me not to eat, but I called in to check, they told me it was fine to eat some cereal or a little something for breakfast, just not to eat anything sugary like pancakes and stuff.

They told me you only have to fast after midnight if u take the three hour one

Some docs want you to fast and some dont. Just fast if they say too and if they dont just make sure to not have a lot of sugar before hand

I'm pretty sure that's only for the 3 hour test, or maybe a different test, on the back of the sheet my OB gave me it had no specifications about fasting or anything, only for the 3 hr test

You don't have to fast for the 1 hour test, only the 3 hour test

I did mine on Friday and I was allowed to eat, they recommend I do eat, I had a soup and sandwich right before and drank lots of water and then nothing for the hour after drinking the orange drink, I got my results today, I did not fail nor do I have gestational diabetes, I was worried about failing it, I was 28+5 when I did it

Mine was at 27 weeks. I was told not to eat after midnight and if you have to eat or drink something make sure it is very low sugar or no sugar would be better. I ate a banana the morning of and I was at 34 and you have to be less than 37 to pass, so I was very close.

They didn't tell me anything about not eating, and didn't ask whether I had. I had cereal about an hour before and passed easily both times.

I got mine done at 28 weeks I believe, and they told me I couldn't eat or drink anything after u drink the orange thing they give you. I ate before I went to the clinic. I went to my appointment & waited til the hour was up then they did my blood test.. at my next appointment after that he never mentioned anything about my test so I'm assuming it was okay.

They didn't tell me anything about not eating before the test, just during the hour wait. I get my results next week so I'm not sure if I failed or not..

Your supposed to fast that morning, and when you go there they will ask if you've eaten. And if you have, they'll tell you to do it another day. Only water

And depending on your Dr and risk factors for gestational diabetes they do it between 24-28 weeks .

I was told not to eat anything after midnight the night before and only drink water. There is a possibility of getting nauseous because of not eating,  I would suggest taking a snack to eat immediately after the test is complete . I would not suggest eating the morning of this could certainly cause you to fail the test and I would avoid taking the 3 hour test if possible. Its much more unpleasant than the one hour.
