22 Weeks Pregnant with Inguinal Herni

by cmatetich, May 23, 2007 12:00AM
Hello!

I just went to the doctor yesterday after discovering a lump in my groin, which had been preceded by pain for about a week.  My doctor diagnosed this as an inguinal hernia.  He said that he wants to wait out surgery since it's not always safe for the baby if it's not necessary.  He said since we can still push it back in, it doesn't require surgery.  He did tell me to watch for signs of strangulation, and told me what those signs were.  Now I wonder, is there anything I should not be doing that might aggravate the hernia?  It hurts and bulges out if I'm standing for more than 5 minutes, but goes away when I lay down.  Does this mean I should not be going for my hour long walks that I've been using as exercise?  Is sex still safe?  Any info you have about not aggravating my condition, and how to prevent strangulation would be appreciated.  I can't find any information on this on the internet!

Thanks so much!
