30 week appt 2cm

Okay so today I saw my regular midwife for a checkup even though I've been checked out twice this week in the hospital and whatnot. On Tuesday a different midwife said I was 2cm so that's why I went to the hospital fit stroud shots and monitoring. Then Wednesday I was told by someone else that I was barely a fingertip dilated. I was so confused and when I saw my regular midwife today she said I am definitely 2cm. She said to go from 2cm to barely open is highly unlikely at this point but that it can vary a little bit but not that drastically. Lol anyway, she said that's the problem with different people checking.

My blood pressure is great, baby girl's heart rate is wonderful, but my uterus is still measuring pretty small. I am about 3 weeks behind (about 27weeks) and she said by feeling the baby (and she is really good at guessing, she was right on with both of my boys) the baby is between 1-2 pounds right now at 30 weeks. Does that seem pretty normal for this stage?

Overall a very good appt. Obviously still on strict bedrest and she said since baby seems pretty small she would love to see me make it to 37 weeks. If she feels that the baby is too small when I go into labor I may end up just going to the hospital to be on the safe side. When my second son was born he was 7lbs at 36w3d and struggled a bit with breathing and needed some oxygen so I want to be on the safe side this time.

My midwife suggested that it may be a good idea after I give birth to wait at least 2 years and really let my body recover. She also said I should look into a cerclage and progesterone injections for the next pregnancy since it may help me to have a more normal pregnancy, hopefully. But we will see! Not too worried about it at this point lol. Just want to have this baby safely for now. :)

I get the weekly babycenter website updates and last week, for my week 32, they said that between then and 40 weeks, the baby gains 1/3 to 1/2 of their body weight.  So, now's the time for that little gal to start plumping up! :-)  I think her weight estimate for now sounds about right.  If she gains 1/2 lb per week from now 'til full term she'd be 6-7 lbs - at 36 weeks she should be about 5 lbs, I'd imagine.

I'm glad she's hanging in there for you and that you haven't dilated a lot more yet.  Keep resting and I hope she stays in there for at least 6-7 weeks for you! :-)

Okay, yea I wasn't sure if that estimate of her weight was good or not. And yes, this is the time baby should start plumping up, about 1/2 pound a week, right?

thats good, that you are not dialating much more...and yes definately another 6-7 weeks would be awesome...No, I think that is a good size for 30 weeks...the baby will start plumping up over the next few weeks...

GA~~Yea, I hope she stays put for at least another 6 weeks, 7 would be great and anything after that is a blessing. :)
Oh wow, your oldest was pretty tiny, glad she did well though! My midwife also said she thinks girls are a bit smaller some of the time, so maybe that's why she is measuring smaller. My first boy was a chunker at 8lbs 4oz and 2 weeks early and second was average size. We will see...I may  just have a petite lil girl in there. (easier to push out though!! lol)

Glad to hear things are as well as can be expected. Hopefully this little girl is going to stay put awhile longer.  My oldest was full term but only 4 lbs 15 oz.  She spent 4 days in nicu to get up to 5 lbs.  She had issues with sucking/swallowing coordination the first 2 days and was tube fed but after that was fine.  AFter she was released the only prob she had was GERD.  She's 14 and healthy as can be :)  As long as baby girl is healthy, doesn't matter how big or small she is :)  Keep us posted.
