Antidepressant and pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant (yay!), but the problem is I am on 10mg Citalopram against anxiety. I have been gradually reducing the dose over the last few months, so that I am now down on 10mg a day. I know that it is horrible for the baby so I really want to stop, but I am not sure whether it would be better to do it over a couple of weeks or go cold turkey? I personally have been of stable mental health for 7 months and, according to the doctor and my own personal feeling, am ready to cease taking it. At the moment,  I am over the moon at the moment so I don't fear the withdrawal symptoms, but of course I am worried for the baby as I am very early (only 5 weeks) and I don't want to mess up his or her nervous system.
I am 23 and of very good health.
Any advice is much appreciated!

You'll have to talk to your doctor about what is okay to keep taking and what is not. I was in the same boat as you when I got pregnant and I quit everything cold turkey. I had doctors permission though so I don't suggest it unless you talk to your doctor.

I delt with depression and my dr said that there are pills that you can take while pregnant, and if I feel depressed tell her asap so I can get on pills. So talk to your dr and she will be able to help you. Congrats.

i would definately ask your dr about that. But in my mind, your body has adjusted to the medication, so stopping cold turkey will give you some withdrawl symptom ( as you already know) which might put a lot of stress on the baby. I would probably gradually work my way down to a lower dosage to stop as itll be easier on your body and the baby's stress level. But don't quote me on that, k? lol It's just what I would do in your situation and I had no way of contacting anyone (like stuck in a deserted island lol) Gives me the same idea as cigarette, its better to stop little by little then stopping cold turkey because of the stress in can input on the baby. Sorry I couldn't be anymore help
