Anxiety

Any mommies deal with anxiety during pregnancy? I'm 29 weeks pregnant. I usually take medication but now I don't since I got pregnant. What are your ways of dealing with it? Thanks in advance.

My due date is tomorrow and this week has been soooo stressful for me that my anxiety is through the roof! I usually breath through it but it's been so bad that last night I took a pill that my doctor prescribed for me early on in my pregnancy. I really tried to avoid the pills but last night my anxiety was so horrible that nothing was working for me

Ah, that's really hard.  Things that help when you can't take medication for anxiety is to practice your breathing exercises.  A good one is square breathing---  breath in for four, hold four, breath out for four, hold for four, repeat.  Physical exercise is really good when one is anxious.  It's a way to release the body's natural 'happy' de stressing chemicals.  So, go for walks, lift some light hand weights, etc.  Get plenty of rest (know that is hard when you are pregnant but TRY).  Find people to talk to .  If you can see a therapist at this time when you can't take your meds, it would be terrific. Talk therapy PLUS medication is the best route to take but if you can only do one of the two, it's still better than nothing!

And talk to your doctor.  Keep them in the loop. They'll want to monitor you post baby to look for post partum issues to help you with.

Wishing you all the best hon.  Hang in there.
