Any similar stories?

I went to the hospital because for about 3 hours I was having contractions at home they just weren't consistent im 36 weeks and they monitored me for a couple hours and although it was indeed contractions they weren't intense or consistent enough to keep me there but they checked and i am 1 cm dilated. They told me to go home and if they get more intense and frequent then come back. Does it sound like I will have my little guy before his due date (Jan 7th) or could these contractions just stop and it end up being nothing?

I was told not to go to the hospital unless I was having contractions every4-5 minutes and measuring the contraction from the start of one to the start of the next and having the contraction lasting a minute and having them for a hour

sounds like what I am having, someone here mentioned prodrominal labor.  I have been dealing with this off and on for a couple of weeks, and am due around the same timer period.  I am effaced and dilated, not sure how far until tomorrow.
