BBT for Dummies

If they don't make this book...they should!  :)  I never did BBT b/c I always used OPKs.  It only took one try to get pregnant with my daughter.  This time around we were unsuccessful for 3 months.  I know that's not an eternity...my point is that after using OPKs for those 3 months I think I've started to detect a pattern with my body.  The problem is...we're taking a break for a couple of months before we TTC again.  I'm curious if this pattern with my body will continue but I don't want to buy OPKs when I'm not actively TTC.

How difficult is it to do BBT?  What are the basics?  How do I go about doing it?  I think part of our problem with TTC these past few months was STRESS.  I wanted so bad to be pregnant that I couldn't just go with the flow.  I was ridiculously anal about the whole process and even started using OPKs twice a day.  I WANT to be able to RELAX these next few months while we're taking a break...but I think curiosity has gotten the best of me and I'd like to learn more about what's going on with my body post pregnancy.

Should I chart my temps to try to figure out my body or should I CHILL OUT and not try to find any patterns and just rely on OPKs when we start TTC again?  Is BBT something you find helpful...or will it wind up being something that CONSUMES me and stresses me out like TTC did?

THANKS!

I get up at 5:15am during the week.  On the weekends, I set my alarm for the same time. AGH! I know, but then I try to go back to sleep.  I don't think any certain time matters, just as long as it is the same time (or close to it) and that you have had at least 3 hours of sleep.

Thanks ladies!  I am worried about getting up at the same time everyday.  My alarm goes off at 5:45 during the week and I'm usually up by 6:30 on the weekends (thanks to my daughter!).  :)  Is that too big of a time difference?  Or will I have to set my alarm for 5:45 regardless?  I don't know if DH will appreciate an alarm clock on the weekends.  :)

When is the best time in your cycle to begin BBT?  I am CD2 right now.

I love Fertility Friend too!!!  I use it and have for about the last 10 months.  I use it as a form of natural family planning.  I have learned so much about my body and it is very easy.  FF even gives you the option to sign up for their FREE charting course.  It's really neat and I highly recommend it.  Good luck!!

running late for work...gotta make this quick...but I bbt'd and loved it!  go to www. fertility friend . com  You can sign up for free and they give you the vip membership for 30 days if you like it (I did) you can pay to keep it or you can just do the free version after that (less graphics, icons, fertility analyzer)  it is great...they send you tons of email tutorials on bbt and they are very informative...almost overwhelming at first...I kept my thermometer under my pillow.  good luck!

Usually stress will do it.  So BBT is easy.  Keep a thermometer next to your bed.  At the same time every morning, and that is super important, before you move, talk or anything just grab the thermometer and take it.  The best ones are the ones that will read like 98.56 sort of thing.  To the tenth.  And since they have the ovulation tracker on here, just set it up and add your temps everyday.  I always wrote it on my calendar and then put it online.

this website really helped me http:// www.storknet.com/ cubbies/ preconception/ bbt.htm

take out the spaces though, it'll tell you how to do it!  Good luck!
