Baby size

I am pregnent for the first time. 28 years ,always had my period regularly.
First day of my last period was june 24
So , i should be about 9 weeks pregnent
However when i went to the doc and did an ultrasound , there was no heartbeat.
Also , my baby just measured 4.6 mm and estimated period was 6 weeks.
I am fearing the worst.
I havent experinced bleeding or painful cramping .
I am scheduled for ultrasound on 6th sept .
Is there any chance that my baby could be normal?Or is it all over ?
Appreciate your earliest reply. thanks

It honestly could go either way.  Your dates may be off a bit.. You could have ovulated late and then on top of it, perhaps it took a while to implant.  This is a common scenario on these boards.. Or the other reality is, it could be a missed miscarriage.  Which is when the pregnancy stops developing but your body does not recognize it right away.

My first pregnancy ended that way.  Mine was a blighted ovum.  I found out at 12 week ultrasound when I had an empty sac measuring 7.5 weeks... I had no bleeding or cramping to warn me either..

The positive sign is that there is a fetal pole so if it is viable by your next ultrasound, there should be an heartbeat.

They generally do 48 hour HCG tests with this.  Where they test your blood for the HCG hormone level twice over a 48 hour period. THe expectation is that there would be a rise in the hormone over the 48 hours. They generally want to see it double over the 48 hours but depending on how high the initial number is it can take up to 96 hours to actually double...

At this point, both scenarios are a possibility but having a fetal pole is a positive sign and I would not say its all over yet..

I hope your next ultrasound shows a beautiful heartbeat! Good luck

if baby was measuring 6 weeks then it is hard to see the heart beat. As for estimating how far gone you are using your last period is never accurate or right. When found out I thought I was 5 weeks but I was only 3 weeks. Try to relax and not to worry because worrying isn't good for you or the baby. Good luck and congrats
