Bleeding after delivery.

How long do you normally bleed for after a vaginal birth? And how much is normal?

With my first it was heavy like I had to change every time I changed my son at night and more frequently during the day,which lasted for about 4wks then got lighter and I stopped completely they day before my 6wk check up. With my second I bled very very light for 3 days, passing very small clots at times then had the brown discharge for 2 days and that was the end of that. I was very active with my second bc of what life was throwing at me, so I was very thankful to get a break with bleeding!

I've heard it's the same for vaginal and c-section. I had my c-section 3 weeks ago and now I'm only spotting. Take it easy and don't do too much!!  I have noticed that when I am very active and do a lot of walking I bleed more.  Just try to rest and you should be fine.

I thought 4 days was short too. I ended up calling my OB 6 days after my son was born (waited to see if the bleeding came back) she said it could be ok so had me go in and checked me. Everything was perfectly fine and I had my period 4-5 weeks after.

My son is 17 days old & I stopped bleeding when he was 12 days old. I had some nasty Brown discharge for two days, then nothing. I still wear a pad just incase. But everyone is different.

okay so my one instructor i had for post partum clinical said something about when you get a csection the Dr can kinda clean you out before stitching you up so you bleed less... but then i had a csection and said something to the nurse about this and she looked at me like i was crazy and said there was no difference lol so i just assumed my instructor was wrong cause she was kinda crazy lol Sooooo do you know if your Dr may have done this? cause 4 days sounds really short....

oh and i had a csection and bleed for 6 weeks... i wasnt sure it was gonna be done by my 6 week check up and in the 5th week it really slowed down to nothin....

Csection or vaginal deliveries dont make a difference in how much a person bleeds... either way its approx. 6 weeks give or take and like the prev posts said should decrease lighter and lighter during that time.... and yes its absolutely crazy how much you can bleed! its your period on steroids!

I bled for 4 weeks got my period at 6 weeks :( I was breastfeeding and was hoping not to get it back fo awhile but that didnt happen lol

My friend bleed 6-8 weeks heavily after c section xx

Ah ok thanks! She was only born this morning but after not having a period for ten months this s**ks. Lol. Cant wait to get all of my body back.

Yep take..it easy I overdid it and started bleeding again x

And remember when ur bleeding slows down, if u start doing too much the bleeding will increase again. So take it easy:)

6 weeks people bleed for normally but i only bled for 4.. As long as your not filling a pad an hour or passing blood clots bigger then 50p your okay.. Congrats :) x

I bleed for around 5 weeks and then slowed off for a few days then got my period at 6 weeks with both of my first two. I know people that didn't get their periods back until their babies were around 10 months though.

I bled heavily for three weeks and lightly for another two. Everyone's different but if you're concerened give your doc a call Xx
