CATS? and babies....

Ok . So I have a huge fear now. I dreamt last night my daughters cat sufercated the baby.

I have had a cat and a newborn but he was 4 years old and not so loving. He has since passed long ago :/ but my point he never once bothered baby.
My daughter has two cats. One is a year the other 7 months. They are very affectionate! They sleep with her every night on her pillow behind her head.
My huge fear now thanks to my nightmare is that geniveve her super fluffy long hair kitty who is youngest will smother the baby trying to sleep in its bed :(
She loves her Kitty's and at 3 even feeds and waters them everyday on her own. I could never get rid of them.
Help.
How do I deal with this problem....

I have a bassinet and am going to set it up in my room.
Do not plan on having a crib so not so much worried about that.
But just to see what happens I'm going to bring it out way ahead of time.
The only down fall is her fluffy loves water :/
But I will try and see what happens.
They are really well behaved and have never scratched or bitten.
And overall are good listeners. So I think I can break the pattern they have adapted to.
I'm more leaning towards locking them in the bathroom at night if all else fails.
I forgot we have cayotees that come on our property.
Plus in and out could carry in bad stuff :/

But I'm only 16 weeks so starting now I hope to have them trained by then. If not they will be spending nights in the tub lol

You can also stop any cat behavior with a squirt bottle! If you see her on your daughters bed, squirt her, and break the habit so she doesn't think she can do it with the baby. My cat is the most persistent cat in the world, it took about a week to get her to stop getting in my sons bed with him. I don't think she would effect my son at all, but I didn't want to take the chance of her doing it with my newborn daughter.

It may be hard for her but she will be ok if you do put them out. You need to do what is best for the baby. Dont keep them in just bc she gets upset. They say cats like to cuddle up to babies bc the smell of the milk and if your cats are affectionate then there is a big chance they will try to lay with the baby and that is not good at all. I have a cat in the house but she wont sleep with my son or go near any babies. She hasnt once tried to go in the babies stuff and only sleeps in her own bed. If i suspect for a minute that she will go near any of the babies stuff she will either be locked in laundry roon while we sleep or will be outside. Its just not a chance i will take

Oh I know baby girl will be okay I was just saying in general were they like to sleep. So I was worrying about that happing to baby :/
Thank you though.
And with toddlers its hard to keep doors closed up around here lol
Mine are fixed and we have a lot of property I was thinking of letting them be outside.
But not sure how my little girl will feel about that.

Being that your daughter is 3, if the cat was to get on her face during the night, I would think your daughter would realize and could push the cat away. Unlike a baby who don't fully understand nor have the strength or ability. I think she should be fine, but there is nothing wrong with worrying or checking on your daughter after she goes to bed. Hope that helps a little!

I have a cat who is exactly the same!...and she is actually gettibg on my nerves!lol I am going to keep the moses basket in my bedroom and keep the doot shut at all times so she wont get in it and put the baby in a rocker when i am downstairs and just keep an eye on my cat.
I would love to re-home my cat,she is driving me nuts,i dont know if it is just because i am pregnant but i just cannot stand her!
