Caffeine in Pregnancy

Hi there!

I have been getting migraines almost everyday of my pregnancy. Started around 10 weeks and I am now 27 weeks.  Seeing a neurologist, but it basically has been chalked down to hormones.

I have been drinking caffeinated beverages to take the edge off the migraines.  Never more than 200 mg per day.  I would say I normally have no more than 3-4 cans of soda which is 144mg of caffeine, but their have been days I needed to go closer to 200mg.

The migraines seem to be coming less frequently now so for the past few days I've only needed 1 can, 37mg of caffeine.  My concern is will the huge drop in caffeine cause withdrawal issues for the fetus?   I don't want her to be used to getting caffeine all day and now going down to once a day be dangerous for the baby?

I'm extremely paranoid of stillbirth so I'm trying to find the appropriate balance for the baby.

Thank you for your help!

I have issues with migraines also. I talked with my dr today about it.  He said to try magnesium.  I went and got some today and when I try it I'll lyk...if nothing else, it may be worth the $5 in pills to see if that helps. He also told me 1 cup of coffee or 1 can of soda a day.

My doct says to drink less than 24oz of caffine a day. To drink decaffinated tea and I can't drink sodas haven't been able to my whole pregnancy bc of the carbonation in them. But I'm 26 almost 27 weeks. The doct said too much caffine can cause heart problems w the baby and even sometimes low birth weight n so forth so just be cautious. And try takin tylenol pm or acetametophin for the migeanes. You may also need more iron in your diet
