Can Plan B be used during ovulation?

My husband and I had sex last night (june 14) spur of the moment sort of deal and we didn't use anything, but he did pull out, My last period was June 2, and according to 3 online ovulation calculators i'm ovulating.(Your next ovulation will most likely occur on Wednesday, Jun-16-2010. Your fertile days are between Sunday, Jun-13-2010 and Friday, Jun-18-2010.) I took a Plan B pill this morning within 12 hours of intercourse. I know they say Plan B is effective in preventing ovulation, but what if you are ovulating? How does it work then, and is it still effective? Has anyone else dealt with this?

Hi!
You are correct that Plan B works by delaying ovulation.  If you had already ovulated though, it is going to be less effective, but still has some contraceptive properties--such as altering the lining of the uterus and also the cervical mucous.

The combination of all of the things you tried, ( withdrawl, etc ) might just be enough to prevent conception on this cycle.  BUT if your period is delayed by more than one week, you definitely should take a pregnancy test!

Good luck!
