Can dating scans be off?

Just a thought that my mum has put in my head. Lol. Im 25 Weeks. The whole pregnancy I read each week about whats happening etc. A few things ive noticed ive felt 4 Weeks before all the books/websites say. First movements were at 15 Weeks, first movements noticed from watching my stomach were at 17 Weeks. And I have felt great until about a week ago, im so physically exhausted. Ppl say I shouldnt feel like this till 3rd trimester.
I got pregnant on the pill so my last period date will not be off by more than a week. But just wondering if because I was still taking my pill it caused me to have a period in between. If that makes sense? I had my first dating scan at 5 +6. Are they usually pretty spot on? Or can it be off by up to 4 Weeks? Or is my baby just doing things early? Im quite huge, ppl tell me im big. Its hard to bend down, pick stuff up put socks on etc. Just curious, thanks :)

As far as timelines go for baby....yes its pretty predictable and can be followed throughout the book but as far as symptoms for moms to go everyone is different... everyones body types are different, each handles the hormones differently and the way baby is positioned is different.... there is so much that affects the pregnancy and how woman take them that a book is very much a basic guideline and there are no rules that you will fit in it exact... some moms feel exausted the whole pregnancy and some have energy all the way thru.... same goes for when mommas show and how they carry... you cant even go as far as comparing additional pregnancys as there are no rules...
Like the prev posts said early scans are pretty accurate as there are very specific signs they look for as baby is progressing and at that early its pretty accurate would not be off by 4 weeks... rest easy! and just remember as far as you go the book is a guideline... as for baby its pretty accurate for what happening :)

Early scans are the most accurate, and even if they are off it's usually by a few days, definitely not 4 weeks. A 5w6day baby looks way different than a 9w6day baby because of all the early development.

Ok thanks! This is my first pregnancy. Had a look at your pics, im prob not quite that big :) My periods would last anywhere from 2 to 5 days and be extremely light when I was on the pill. I cant remember my last one but now im freaking out that it was implantation. I wouldnt of even thought of that. Lol.

the early the scan the more accurate from 5-12w is when its most accurate. they cant be off by 4 weeks. beleive me i feel the same every day im 27+2 3rd baby tho and im huge every one asks if im having twins lol. nope just the one. i started showing at 7w and was how i knew i was preg. some info that may help if you have been preg b4 my midwifes explanation for showing early is your stomach muscles are already stretched so they seperate alot quicker. people say all the time you cant show that early well they are wrong, what happens is some women grow there tummy early and then stop for ages and there baby slowly moves up into the space thats been empty. ive got pics in my album on profile from when i 1st found out and u can see im pregnant lol. babies are all diff and do things at different stages also. but no it is not common almost imposs for a scan to be out by 4w :)
