Can't conceive

We have been trying to conceive for about 1year now.  I'm trying not to worry, but I can't help but think why I'm having such a hard time conceiving.  I have gone to my OBGYN & everything is normal.  I even had a couple of blood tests that were normal.  I've tried to keep track of my mentrual cycles, use ovulation kits & try to keep my hips elevated (or at least not stand up for at least 30min after intercourse).. I'm not sure if it's normal, but it seems like everytime after intercourse it still comes out (I'm not sure how to refer to it).  My husband has not been tested & we are thinking of doing this soon.. Both us are healthy people.  We don't smoke, but my husband does drink maybe twice a week. Should I be worried?

Your husband needs to be tested.  Male factor is the cause of about 1/3 of couples infertility.  The other common causes are tubal disease and anovulation.  

Also, the semen coming out is not the problem.  Normal sperm can reach the upper levels of the reproductive tract (uterus and fallopian tubes) in minutes after ejaculation.

Have your husband get a semen analysis

you can buy an over the counter test for your husband at like  walgreens that messures the sperm count. and if that is fine, go to your doctor and have him a/i you on your day of ovulation. it doesn`t cost that much. and you don`t need to have the sperm washed first but it wouldn`t hurt it should only cost around 500.00 total

we just had my husband's sperm analyzed last thursday.  we went to see a fertility specialist and it cost $90 for them to analyze it.  His sperm count is fine... which is why i am telling you this.  The sperm count matters, but it is the QUALITY of the sperm that is important.  so, you might not really know much by simply buying an over the counter test from walgreens.

I don't know how much those are... but our insurance doesn't cover infertility and the test through an MD for him was $90... that really is not much.  They want to run further tests on me... those will cost more than $500.  

Personally, I would pay the $90 to get accurate results from the dr.  Good luck and I wish you all the best.  Hopefully, whatever is keeping you from getting pregnant, is an easy fix :)

This may sound really dumb, but how do you find a fertility specialist? Are there certain things to look for?  

I think we would rather get a more accurate results than risk not doing it right w/ a home tester.  Plus, those male infertility kits are not cheap.. I checked & they run at least $80 a kit.

I had this same problem.. tried everything.. (even got him tested) Until I bought the Clearblue easy calculator.. I think it was $300.. after over a year of trying.. this was the best $300 ever spent.  Preg after a month.. I would recommed to anyone!
