Hi!
I hope I am answering the question that you are asking! Typically the first day of the period is considered to be cycle day 1. (August 27) Typically (in a 28 day cycle) ovulation/conception occurs on cycle day 14.(September 11) AND finally, if no pregnancy occurs, the period starts on cycle day 28 (September 25).
When periods are irregular, an early ultrasound is much more helpful in determining how far along someone is. In your case, if you were my patient, I would probably use August 27 as your LMP, but if the ultrasound disagreed with that, I would use the ultrasound dates instead.
Hope this helps!

sorry just realised this was on the expert forum (don't know why it was showing on my public one) but still....doctors don't always come on here and can be slow to respond.
Doctors are not on the forum all the time...you would need to actually go to the expert forum for that were it costs (I think) $22 to post a question to them.
So thought I would try help!
It's extremely difficult to pinpoint conception, that is why doctors use your last months period to date a pregnancy. This is also because sperm can live up to 7 days in there and it can then take about 7 for conception to actually happen after intercourse so really there is not much of a way to determine when.
Judging by when your lst period was...I doubt you would have conceived the day before your period so I would go with the intercourse you had on the 28th...although you wouldn't have actually conceived at that point.
Hi Elaine, I really need your help!!
I would like to know when did I concieve. I had sex on the 14th of march and my period came on on the 15th, but I also had sex on the 28th. I got a positive hpt today!! is there anyway to determine when i concieved? plz help
Hi Elaine cNt you inbox me please.....I've been trying to ninbox you but I'm new to this and really need your advice....Thanks!!!!
Hi how are you I noticed that you where a doctor and I wanted to know what could have caused me to have positive home pregnancy tests but get to the doctor and they are negative and why was my hcg level 2 and when I checked a week later it was still 2.
....forgot to mention...if this is for a paternity issue the only way to know for sure who the father is, is to wait until the baby is born and have a paternity test taken.
if you had a normal 28 day cycle..you would probably ovulate about 14 days before the start of your cycle. But a pregnancy is dated from your last months period. And conception doesn't happen the exact time you have unprotected sex it can take 7-10 days after you ovulate.
Why do you want to know when you period would come, if you already pregnant. You don't get a period when pregnant, you can get bleeding and spotting in pregnancy but not a period.
