Could this be twins...6 week ultrasound included

I would like to start off with a little bit of history, test results, and my concerns.  I have been concerned that I have been carrying more than one baby since day one. I tested positive on a hpt at 3w4d. This being said I also concived within 1-2 weeks of discontinuing the pill. My betas were drawn- 4w5d 1527 5w5d 18,500. my ultrsound was perfomed at  6w0d and diagnosed as a singleton pregnancy.  Throughout the u/s I continued to notice a mass to the upper left of my baby. I asked the u/s tech what it was. she said " THEY are uterine vessels" .... Okay so I couldn't help but think to myself that is one embryo looking uterine vessel, I accepted her professional diagnosis and went on my way.  However now , a week later, everytime I glance at my u/s pic my eyes are immediatly drawn away from my baby to the mass I questioned. I can't help but to think I'm just crazy.  I have had 3 succesful pregnancys prior to this and not once have I ever seen anything like this on my u/s. My next doc appointment isn't for another 2 weeks and I'm already feeling a bit neurotic about this.  Any advice or tips  are greatly appreciated and welcomed with an open mind. Thank you so much. I hope the pic is clear enough for you to view what I am seeing. If you click the photo it should enlarge.

Sorry posted that early on accident. Anyhow so the logicql thing is that it could be bowels and freakout out over a funky shaped ****...lol. then again im just confusd as to why my doctor didn't seem to hear a word I said. Im changing doctors. Im going back to the midwife I had with my previous 3 pregnancys. Unfortunatly I can't get in for 3 weeks. Im ok with that tho I just need to be back with a doctor I feel comfortable with and one who will hear the words that are coming out of my mouth. Im not going to stress about this anymore. If its something eptopic or anything like that im sure it will let it self be know by next visit. I will take it as nothing to worrry about and just be thankful I have 1 healthy pregnancy inside the uterus. On a good note I've  gained 2 lbs since prepregnancy. So that just goes to show things are moving right along :)

Thanks a bunch. Well ladies I git ahold of my doctor today. I took I ultrasound pic in. I explained my concerns.  I don't know if it was irritating to them that I would have such a "stupid question" but they did give me that vibe. I was told to stop smoking even though I told them I quit smoking a month ago when I found out. When it came to ultrasound I explained that I do not have my right ovary or tube and I just didn't know what it could be on that side. I also explained the ultrasound tech just told me it was uterine vesselnot possible)s when I asked her. Dr said no its not uterine vessels, but its not even in the uterus it colud just be my bowels, or it could be my right ovary( the one that's not there) or it could be a cyst on my right ovary (again not possible). I just felt like everything I said to her was said to a brick wall

i know 2 weeks is hard to wait but at 8 weeks preg there will no mistaking if you are preg with 1 or 2 babies....there will either be 1 or 2 hearts beating and the u/s tech cannot miss it

i am actually having twins this preg but my first u/s wasn't until 8 weeks and my doc told me that if we would have had it earlier there would have been too many unknowns because twins are hard to identify right away and a lot of them disappear early on which is known as vanishing twin syndrome

hopefully these next 2 weeks go by quickly for you

congrats on the preg

Hmm that's interesting. Sounds like things turned out for the best as well. I will def be researching this. I have to agree that it sounds like what im going through. I've not had any bleeding either as of now.just some occasional localized sharp pains.  Is it something  that could harm the baby?

Any issues with it. So once the dr noticed it healed they never worried about it again.

*I never had any bleeding.

Not blessing:)

I am not able to see the photo on my phone but it sounds kinda like something I had called a subchorial hematoma. It was spotted at 8 weeks but was gone at 9 weeks. I never had any bleeding with it but it did look like it had tissue inside it that sort of resembled an embryo. I kind of freaked out when I first saw it thinking it may be a second baby but it healed on it's own. The dr was concerned that I may have had some spotting or blessing because of it's size and location but I never had

Yeah I mean it looks like 1 baby to me as well  its just that other whitemass to the left of the pic in the black area that freaks me out.  I really hope its just uterine tissue or something like that. I did find out about a condtion called heterotopic pregnancy where. 1 baby will implant intrauterine (as suppose to)while another fertilized egg  may implant else where in the uterus (ectopic)  its a rare condtion and I can only pray not the case  If that was the case at all I would maybe want to get with my doctor before the 11th probley.  Like I said feeling just confused and hoping everything is fine with the munchkin I know im expecting and if its the case of 2 than that one as well.  I just wish it was the simple case as that I was told there was 1 and there was no further question at all about it. Its just added stress that isn't good for my body :(

It looks like there's only one. I'd wait a few more weeks and request another ultrasound. My husband and I found out at 9 weeks we were having twins. You could very clearly see two individual babies and hearts beating. There was no second guessing it. lol

Oh wow, yeah if I were you I would find a different OB or Midwife and go that route. My techs always gave me a duedate, even when it changed. I used a midwife who was in the office with an OB, and I had several ultrasounds in the beginning due to my bleeding. I had one almost every week from four until 12 weeks. Definitely call around and try to get in with someone else if you feel like your office isn't addressing your concerns. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Thank you all for your opinions :)  They are so very much appreciated:) I'll take anything I can get right now as far as what others think it could be. as well as alternitive logical explanations.  I know I've googled my butt off and haven't seen 1 ultrasound yet where twins have implanted so far apart like that. and as you said the black area is much smaller than the sac of my for-sure baby .  I think I will def. be requesting a repeat ultrasound and maybe even go to another place to have it done, seing how the ultrasound tech I had was well a grumpy older lady who spent 3 min looking at everything cervix, ovary, baby, and spent 2 seconds unempathitically addressing my concern. She was kind enough to not even give me a duedate....I guess thats my job to figure out right...lol. Either way I will heed your advise and request 1 more to just lay this anxiety to rest. I also think hopefuly by then I'll be 9 weeks and will maybe be able to find a heart beat via doppler. :)

I found out at 3 weeks and 2 days. Mine was suspected to be a twin pregnancy in the beginning as well. I started bleeding and we had to wait until my numbers were high enough to have an ultrasound. My first was at four weeks, and I remember seeing a small circle next to the gestational sac, but they were very close together. It was much smaller and irregularly shaped, I continued to bleed for four more weeks and then spotted until 12 weeks and after that first ultrasound, the other 'sac' wasn't seen again.

I see only one baby in your ultrasound picture. IMO, the other black area that is in the left corner is too far away and too small to be a pregnancy. If I were you, I would ask the doctor at your next appt or see if they can do a repeat ultrasound to put your mind at ease.

Looks like one baby to me. I would wonder with your levels though, if you look up levels by week in pregnancy, 5 weeks is said to be 18-7,340, and 6 is 1,080-56,500. I found out with my daughter at 3 weeks 4 days too. I don't think that has anything to do with the number of babies, just implantation. After ovulation it takes 6-12 days for implantation, and then another 24-48 hours for the levels to be high enough for a positive test. SO at a bare minimum you could find out at 7 days past ovulation, and if you have 28 day cycles that's only 3 weeks pregnant.
