Dieting and Pregnancy?

I have been on a restricted calorie controlled diet for 6 months and doing pretty well. 5 days ago I realised I had missed a period and did a home pregnancy test and it was positive! Even though it wasn't planned I am excited. My question is how many calories should I be eating during my pregnancy? I know the baby needs at least 300 extra calories a day but what should I up my own calorie intake to? I was eating 1500 calories a day. (I am heavily overweight) I am not worried about weight gain during pregnancy but I am worried about excessive weight gain. I don't want to back slide into the same bad habits I've being trying to break for 6 months. I have a healthy son that was conceived and carried at a heavier weight than I am now. Any help
Would be appreciated.

I'm worried n more nervous with this pregnancy than I was with my first. mostly about the horribleness of labor and delivery, my first one I was induced and had no meds besides that mean mean pitocin stuff..

I just want to ad, I lost 20 kilos (up to this week) on my diet and my firstborn was conceived naturally and carried to term safely at my old weight so I have no other Pre existing problems due to weight (that I know of) But for some reason this time around I feel worried about things I didn't really worry about the first time? (I that makes sense to anyone).

You also only require an extra 300 calories once you're in the 2nd trimester

Dont worry so much about the calories and more about portion, how many times u eat and eating healthy foods. U should try 6 small meals a day and eat foods that will turn into sugars slower to help maintain ur energy levels. Eat lots of fruit and veggies and keep ur carbs low. When u get hungry or like u need to snack dont go for veggies smotherd in a thick dressing, go light on the dressing even using vinegeretts or olive oil witha touch of garlic will help or simply eat a yogurt with a small hand full of mini wheats. And make sure u can get atleast a half hr of exersize a day and walking is great.
