Does birth control stop your milk production if breastfeeding?

I'm planning on breastfeeding exclusively, but I also want to get on birth control asap after baby...has anyone lost supply or it slowed down and effected your milk? I do not wanna do formula!

Yeah, FOR ONCE he might have to be the responsible one lol I don't need necessary be on it while he's gone so I might just stick with condoms.

Thabk u...My doctor told me breastfeeding is not a form of birth control, I've been hearing that. But I'm comfortable taking birth control as long as I don't lose supply. My husband deploys ten weeks after baby so I know I need to get on it. and I would be less than thrilled to get pregnant again right before he leaves. Plus my body needs to heal.

The only thing you might be able to get is the mini pill. If your trying to breastfeed exclusively you might not want to get anything and just use protection. I wanted to try that but I also don't want any more babies anytime soon after this one!

Breastfeeding is also a type of birth control but it's not a hundred percent effective. Something like the mini pill works great with breast feeding.

Estrogen based birth control is what dries most women up. There are several estrogen free options including the "mini pill" (progesterone only rather than combination), depo provera shot, and one or two iuds.

No it does/will not. However it mildly limits the birth control methods you can use.
