Ectopic??

The Boyfriend was reading the back of the pregnancy test box and it said that an ectopic pregnancy would not show up on a pregnancy test. My concern is that I have had one before when I was 16 years old. I did not find out about the ectopic through a test then either, I had an ultrasound done which verified it due to some abdomen pain.

What symptoms should I be looking for with an Ectopic pregnancy? I tested again this morning FMU and it was BFN again. I felt major AF symptoms today, put a tampon in this morning, and everyone I changed was clean not a spec of blood. I usually spot or have a light bleed before my heavy flow, my heavy flow is due tomorrow the 22nd.

Even an eptopic will show positive. Yet if you are not even late then a + might not show up yet.

The symptoms usually do not show up till 6 weeks either. In most cases that is. You should look for severe pain on one side. weakness and dizziness.

You may have an ovarian cysts the is casueing some pain and are not pregnant. Ovarian cysts can have signs of missed period. Pain, spotting sometimes, nausea, weight gain, water retention. You will not show up + on a test with that but when it ruptures it will be horrible pain for a bit then stop. An eptopic will not stop hurting and get worse.

ovarian cysts are nothing to worry about or be seen for. They are jsut a sign that oyu are fertile and that youa re making eggs. It happens when the egg does not release and casues a cyst. It grows till it ruptures and is painful but again nothing to worry about. I have know many woman have them the size of golf balls and it will do nothing to you. OSme dr's say you have to have surgery to remove them but you do not. SOmtimes pressing on your ovaries will rupture them to get it over with but they ahve to be big enough. Also sometimes if your hormones are out of wack you will get more. Espeacially if you have PCOS or endo.

Hope all is fine and you figure it out. Oh yeah once you bleed your period will start and you just may have worse cramps of you are super late. If that is a cycst that is.

You could be testing too early and w/ a test that isnt very sensitive (especially if it doesnt provide you with that info!).   I would suggest retesting w/ a good, digital test (no guess work there).

I have used Hyvee Pregnancy test, the store brand. It doesnt tell me the amount of HCG needed to get a positive. I also cannot find that info online, I googled it ;)

I did test with FMU this morning, my AF isnt due until tomorrow I was expected to have ovulated on the 8th-9th, unless I ovulated late, I am unsure of my Luteal phase so I cant be sure when my exact O is.

Best thing to do would be to check the pack to see what level of HCG is detectable with each type of test (you can also do a Google search to compare different brands).  Different tests do have different sensitivity levels and some of the off-brands are pretty decent but that isnt always the case. Most tests should be able to detect ectopic pregnancy though - the less sensitive tests may take a few extra days to detect HCG.   Did you test w/ FMU?  When is your period due?

Yup I had one sided pain with my first sctopic, it just has been a long time ago since I have had to feel the symptoms. Could it be that I am using an off brand HPT? And are off brands/store brands as accurate as FRER and EPT? It says to compare to EPT lol...should I really compare it, or should I just go get a FRER digital?

With an ectopic pregnancy you would miss your period and get one-sided pain.
In many cases, an ectopic pregnancy WILL show up on a pregnancy test.
