For already moms. (???)

My son is 1month 2days and he's been doing good up until about a week ago. He's having a hard time eating. He cries and cries like he's in pain. He's always gassy and his temperature keeps going up and down between 96 and 99.4.. he's always sneezing, coughing and gagging.. I think he may have acid reflux or GERD .. does anybody have a baby with this? And can relate? Give advice? Please and thank you.

Also when I switched between it made him fussy because formula is heavier then breast milk so when u give them breast milk they think they need more because the formula stretched their bellies.. have u tried drinking lots of water and pumping more to see of it helps u produce more or talk to Dr some will prescribe a vitamin or herb that helps u produce more milk if u wanted to go back to strictly breastfeeding .. I personally gave up on breastfeeding because it got tuff switching between :( this time if that happens il prolly try the supplementing formula they have put to see how that works

My son was the same way he had GERD and his formula was an issue I also breast and formula fed .. his Dr put him on Zantec and changed him to Similac sensitive then to Similac spit up formula the spit up has rice made in it so it feels heavier in babys tummy and helps keep acid under control .. u may want to talk to ur sons pediatrician about the soy formula jic they feel the same as my son's peds Dr did I had switched him to soy on my own because the advanced was terrible on his belly . I switched him he got super constipated :( when I took him to the Dr she told me that the only time she recommends Similac soy is when a baby has been having diarrhea to help from its poop and that she only recommended it til bm was formed because studies found that the soy has to much estrogen hormones in it and can cause long term effects.. oh I hope they fig out for sure if that's what it is seeing ur baby uncomfortable is the worst thing in the world !

Yeah I agree with another poster, switching between breast and formula can really mess with their stomachs, at least that's what I hear.my mom babysat a baby girl who literally cried all day because her mom did both..I'd suggest sticking to one or the other, although I'm no expert.

Also know if you are eating/drinking dairy and breast feeding it will affect baby too of they dont do well with dairy.

Yeah I will definitely ask his doctor what she recommends. Not sure if it's the formula messing with him or he just has an extremely sensitive stomach regardless or what he eats.. but we will figure it out.. Thank you for the recommendation/help.

My son was pretty bad with gas and was dealing with the same stuff as your baby. I had him on gripe water but what really helped was changing the water I used for his formula. I started to boil his formula water with fennel seeds and that worked wonders. It regulated him and helped with all his gas and fussiness. Gripe water is mainly concentrated fennel seed water so it has the same effect except for me it seemed better since it was in every feeding. You don't have to put a lot. I would put a couple teaspoons in enough water to last 24 hours. But again that worked for my son, definitely talk to your pediatrician first.

Yeah I will bring it up with his doctor. About colic and other possible causes for this. Thank you everyone. Also yeah that could be why. Switching between the two. I don't remember weather or not he acted this way when I strictly breastfed him. The only reason I started formula was because I spent the night at my mother's and my sister offered to watch him the night while I caught up on sleep. And ever since then I stopped producing as much.

It could be because your switching between breast milk and forumla . It could be upsetting his stomach. I would try and stick with one and see if anything changes

And I am breastfeeding and formula feeding. He was eating enfamil for fussing and gas for a while which contained milk so I switched him to soy enfamil starting yesterday. It was a really rough night. So today I put him on only breast to see if maybe it was the formula doing this to him.. so far he's good. But like I said he seems to only be this way when it's night time. So I will see.. I have a feeling it may be the formula.

Thank you ! Glad you ladies answered me. He has an appointment on Monday.  So I will ask the doctor and ask about him being prescribed for the acid. I do give him gas drops and gripe water and also burp him after every oz. It helps for the most part. But he still seems to be in so much pain. Maybe that's the acid coming up and down his throat. And I will also start to give his the sailine drops.. It's weird because he's only like this at night time.. and I get absolutely no sleep because of this. He sleeps and eats no problem during day. I'm hoping tonight things will get better.

My daughter was the same way.  Burp him after every ounce of food... That helped my daughter. Her pediatrician also put her on some acid reflux medicine which worked wonders. It was a generic brand of zantac (i think that's what it was). Gas drops worked amazing and so did gripe water.
