Gestational Diabetes

How many ladies have been diagnosed with GD? I go for my 1 hour glucose test tomorrow and I'm kind of freaking out... I don't really indulge in sweets or junk food but I'm scared that because regular diabetes run in my family my chances of getting GD are high (not sure if that statement is true). I'm a ftm and have been having a smooth sailing pregnancy the for the past 27 +3 which seems just too good to be true. I'm absolutely terrified of having anything go wrong.

I was terrified I would have it because my diet is HORRIBLE! I'm picky ans have serious morning sickness issues and ALWAYS want coke. My blood sugars are oddly on the low side of average even with my childlike diet. No diabetes for me. It really doesn't have to do with your diet and is nothing to be ashamed of.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! No matter what I'm sure I will get through. I'm a little less terrified about the whole thing. I guess it isn't the end of the world.

I'm very healthy and have no diabetes at all in my family and I was diagnosed with GD. Gestational diabetes doesn't have anything to do with how you eat (mostly). The reason women only have GD during pregnancy is because the placenta can't produce sugars properly so once we give birth and get rid of the placenta most women don't continue to have. If you do happen to get GD most women can control it with a cleaner diet and don't need insulin.

Yeah I take very good care of myself so hopefully I don't get it. It is good to know that my chances are up due to family history.

Diabetes run in my family. I didn't get gd. It really depends if your insulin is producing well and how your eating may effect it. My sister in law drank tons of soda and didn't way very well and she did get it. Dont worry just take care of your self and you should be fine
