I had to fast for 12 hours before the test. If your doctor didn't tell you to fast, I would stay away from sugars and carbs (bread, potatoes, rice, pasta). They wanted me to take the test around 16 weeks because I was showing signs. I didn't get the chance to take it until 20 weeks and I failed the 1 hour. Failed the 3 hour at 21 weeks.
If you think you might have it I would look up symptoms. Fatigue, nausea, and vomitting are signs of high blood sugar. Weakness, and anxiety are signs of low blood sugar. (There are more symptoms of each I just can't remember them all.) I showed symptoms of both before being diagnosed. I wasn't diabetic pre pregnancy but it runs in my family so I knew what to look for. The confirmation for me was I was at a birthday party (pre diagnosis) and enjoyed a piece of cake that was way to sweet. I ended up waking up in the middle of the night and threw it up, a good 8-10 hours after I ate it. It should have been digested but my body just couldn't process it, it was too much sugar. Perfectly healthy women with no risk factors get it because their pregnancy hormones can effect the pancreas which is responsible for regulating your blood sugar.
I had mine last Friday! I didn't eat anything just drank water only nd I passed the test!! It wasn't as bad as I thought! But My hemoglobin was low so I'm taking iron tablets nd they are horrible!!!
My doctor said I can eat first, but nothing sugary. So like eggs or plain toast or something. Mine is on Thursday so that's the only tip I've got. Haha
I got the fruit punch one! It wasn't bad at all! Tasted like really sugary Kool aid. And it was cold so that helped. I chugged it in 2 mins.
Glucose test isn't that bad. My drink was a orange one that tastes like Fanta. Your not meant to eat anything before hand (mine was the 2 hour wait one) and I had to fast for 12 hours. I had no signs what so ever. I failed the test and ended up having to inject myself with insulin.
Thank you! I feel fine! No problems at all, blood pressure has been fantastic and my over all health has been fantastic but I have heard even healthy mom's magically get it! I'm sure I'm just over thinking it lol
not a lot of sugar** sorry lol.
the glucose test actually isn't bad at all. it's like flat orange pop with a surgery after taste. don't chug it though lol. I tried and it will make you feel sick. you can eat before just a lot of sugar. other than that you should be fine! as far as already having signs of it, I don't know. I think it's kind of a only knowing with a test thing. good luck!
