Happy to be morning sick! But need remedies.

I hope this is a sign of good things to come (I hadn't had morning sickness with my unsuccessful pregnancies)! This pregnancy's got me feeling pretty queasy on and off throughout the day. It started this week and it gets increasingly worse (and different) each day. I make fresh ginger tea and eat a range of foods in small amounts, very frequently. I'm figuring out what I can't tolerate. I find that I am burping quite a lot which might be adding to my stomach troubles. So far the best thing is to lie on the couch and snooze. But I have to work and remain productive!

What are your favorite tried & true remedies? Any advice on how to combat the burping? (It's not acid reflux, feels more like stress-induced IBS)

So, good news! I had my 1st scan today and it showed an 8-week little bean with a heartbeat (whew). All good. I'm keeping my hopes up for the rest of this 1st trimester.

Just got back from the ER with a pack of Metoclopramide for my nausea. Will be scanned tomorrow but so far everything checked out alright. They were a little mad at me for being worried about anti-nausea meds but my mother told me horror stories of thalidomide so who can blame me! Mind you what was ages ago. And I've crashed too much weight. I'm 5'7" and went from 140 to 127 in a week, yikes.

Will keep you girls posted and thanks for the luv.

Hmm. OK thanks. I just posted something on my ovary which has been getting more painful in the last few days. Not sure if it's related to vomiting....

I had hyperemesis. If you're losing that much weight you need to see a doctor ASAP. Some women in the first trimester just get REALLY bad nausea/vomiting and it's not necessarily a sign of HG and will get better as the pregnancy progresses.

Sounds like hyperemesis gravidum. You need to have medical attention and take (safe) prescribed meds to help you through this or it could get worse, end up in dehydration, hospitalization, etc. Good luck!

Wow thanks for all your responses!! Thanks to your responses I am making a concerted effort to have more protein in my little meals. Funnily enough I'm actually able to tolerate Vegemite on crackers (never had it much before, it's a souvenir from Oz) and it's loaded with different Vit B forms; maybe I'll make it a staple! I am kind of a reactive hypoglycemic (which means if I have too much refined sugar I'll have a big "drop," simulates morning sickness as well) which I had under control by watching my diet; unfortunately it's exacerbated by morning sickness, which I discovered today when attempting to eat canned pears (felt great for a few minutes then got a drop from outta nowhere). Sadly ginger ale and candies fall into the category of things that will probably make me worse. It seems that I definitely have to force myself to eat once an hour and not wait until I feel rotten.

I love reading your suggestions, thanks!

And yes fingers crossed this baby sticks around.

- crackers and peanut butter always make me feel better.
- apples also seem to soothe the belly in the am.
- small meals, and always follow your cravings.
- take your prenatals at night (less chance of causing stomach upset)
- coke actually soothes my stomach (normally i never touch the stuff)
- tums are also good for areflux symptoms. also, google an acid reducing diet
if you are really not doing well, diclectin can help and is safe! and the morning sickness hotline at sick kids hospital. call them. they are AWESOME. 1.800.436.8477

Small meals throughout the day, instead of three, make it five...try bland things, that aren't overly spiced. I heard sucking on ice helps too, that's new to me, I've never tried it.

Yay I hope this is a great sign for you!!  Congrats.  Salted crackers & ginger ale helped with my morning sickness with my first 2 pregnancies, but that was 10 & 13 years ago..lol I hope when & if I get preggo next I have much less morning sickness.

I hope you start feeling better soon, & have a safe wonderful pregnancy!

I started taking vitamin B before my pregnancy because I knew it was good to have before and it's supposed to help surpress morning sickness. Try it out! I NEVER got sick! I had like a week where I was turned off by my dinner but not to the point that I was sick.

Ginger cookies and gingerale....sour candies like lemon drops or jolly ranchers..make sure your small meals are high in protein...you can also take half a regular unisom 4x daily and it is safe according to my re.  Good luck
