Having the baby early?

Why do so many people want to have their babies already? I am 38+3, and I know it is uncomfortable, but I'm more scared of the baby having to stay in the hospital than I am of being uncomfortable. I have kidney stones that are causing complications with me and the baby, so I have no choice but to be induced a little early, but why would someone with no real problems choose a risk? I don't understand...

Honestly I never heard of voluntary inductions or all these home remedies until I found this site. I think most women r just venting bc they or uncomfortable or in pain. Others are just impatient but I don't ANYONE wants to intentionally harm their child. Its all about perspective. If you were forced to have your baby early then it is annoying to read about unnecessary inductions. So best to just ignore those posts. I have h yperemesis so I get a  little annoyed when I read roll-calls about delicious dinners and cravings lol..so I just ignore those posts

I can't stand seeing these posts! I see them all the time and they state flat out that they're just so uncomfortable - very rarely do the mother's ever say anything about just wanting to be able to meet their munchkins...only that they're uncomfortable and they want their babies out of them. How selfish?! They're every bit as irritating as the ones from women who ask about castor oil - other home remedies are fine by me, I don't believe that teas, walking, bouncing, oils, etc... will make your baby come before he/she is ready, but castor oil? Either they fail to do their research and realize that castor oil can cause meconium aspiration in the baby, dehydration in the mom, or other scenarios that are equally as harmful to munchkin or they do find these things out and then just don't care! It's sad, really... What are two - three more weeks when you've already gone thirty seven or so in comparison to your baby's health?

Sorry, this is probably my biggest pet peeve with this or any site like this.

^^^ if that's the only reason i find that a bit selfish.
If you made it this far you can wait a week or two more and be sure your baby is ready to face the world.

I dont think it so much of them being uncomfortable, I think its more of the fact that they want to hold and see their babies already.

Maybe if they told women that pregnancy is 42 weeks maybe some will actually wait the 40 weeks or until baby comes on his/her own ;)

Actually there are babies at 37 weeks who still have. To be intubated that's why if a baby has to come before 39 weeks they do an amino.

37 weeks is full term the baby doesn't need to be in there longer, home inductions remedies r not going to make the baby come before its ready.

I completely agree I'm 37weeks.. I have kidney problems before pregnancy but got worst while pregnant have had to stop labour three times! And at the moment have kidney stones in both kidneys went to my appointment Monday talked about everything I can be induced but since baby isn't in any stress and is doing good I told them I'll deal with the pain! They are telling me either ways I may not make it to my due date and that's okay but I want to get as close to it as I can and I don't want to be induce unless I have to be! But my ob did take me off of bed rest and told me to go ahead and start walking and bouncing but to just not over do it! She said it will help me during labour so I started to but if I wake up and have lots of pain I try and take it as easy as I can! I know it's better for my baby boy to stay in as long as he can so he can bake a lil bit longer!

I feel the same way. I'm so freaken uncomfortable,  fat , slow and everything in sight,  I'm also 39 weeks and not in a hurry.  I do start to understand women who can't stand being pregnant at this stage but come on,  you will mostly be  pregnant for a week or two and it's over.  You made it this far you can do for few me days.
ALSO I do know moms who have medical conditions or have induction scheduled for some reason and they just want to do it naturally before induction day.
I'm not here to judge.
I just want me a healthy baby and I will take any pain or being uncomfortable to make sure it happens!

Agreed! I wish women just let the baby come when he or she is ready whether they are big babies or what. Pregnancy is not supposed to be really comfortable and perfect. I get you are anxious to meet your baby but is it really worth the complications that could come with early birth? Makes absolutely no sense to me. I guess each their own.

And there is a big difference between being uncomfortable and being in pain. Plus, the mom's pain is temporary. Having a baby early can cause complications that can last their whole lifetime.

I had my baby at 25weeks and I would take me being in pain and a healthy baby anyday. Woman saying they are in pain is no excuse. How do you think the baby feel laying in a hospital crib all day and night getting stabbed and poked at. We made the decision to be mothers and thats the pain with have to deal with.

I like walking. Walking and the ball. Both are great exercise and help prepare the body for labor, and it is healthy as long as it isn't overdone.

Everyone is different its more of their anxious to meet there baby and a lot gets really painful the last month yes its silly to risk your.baby but from experience your pain may.not be as bad as the next my pain the last two weeks was indescribable I barely could walk from so much pelvic pain n back pain but my lil girl came when she was ready @ 39 weeks but I never recommend trying to make your baby come before 38 weeks n definitely not using any drinking or pill forms to induce (castor oil)

I know what you mean! It bothers me too, I've already had two premises and not by choice! And because I'm high risk and my blood pressure keeps going up my Dr is inducing me early...this really upsets me as I wanted so bad to carry her til her due date :(
