All I do know is that male sperm are fast swimmers but die quicker and the female sperm are slow swimmers but live longer so if you have sex right when you ovulate than it's most likely going to be a boy and if you have sex right before you ovulate it will be a girl.  Don't know how true this is but I also had a biology teacher tell me that when a woman has an orgasm the acidity from discharge kill the male chromosome.  He was a total whack job though.  Loved him to death but don't know how accurate he was.

oh I would also like to mention the oddity that both pregnancies have been almost identical. same amount of nausea/vomiting 1st trimester...same slight taper off during 2nd (although still throwing up occasionally) ...same weight loss 1st trimester (almost at least...20lbs lost with DD, 16lbs lost with DS this time), same slow weight gain 2nd (1lb every 2wks) .....which is why I was expecting another girl. but we saw him again on u/s yesterday and definitely still a boy, lol.

yeah I know that it doesn't make a difference considering we did the EXACT SAME thing both times and had a daughter first and now we're expecting a boy..

we BDed like crazy from 7days before ovulation until 7dpo both times and I used all the same methods, i.e. resting with my feet up after BD for about 20 minutes before peeing...so it was kind of like a control experiment, lol. same methods...different results.

it's all in the genes, ladies! (and God's plan of course)

DH and I already had a dtr so we were trying for a boy using the Shettles method and we had another girl. My sister had a boy and was trying for a girl.  I suggested she try the Shettles method to see if it works for her and it didn't.  She is having another boy in May. I think god has our life already planned out for us.  I think the only way to get the gender we want is to have a test tube baby (as someone mentioned above).  The Chinese Calendar was wrong with both my girls.

I've never tried it but i heard that there is a method called the shettles method??? Interesting as i have read a lot of women say it worked for them?? it has something to do with the timing of conception and calculating your ovulation dates.

Ive heard of that book,in my opinion, its a load of rubbish.there is no way of chooseing what gender your child will be.think of all those women who want a girl for instance, and they try try and try all different methods and still end up with a boy.all to do with chromozones.

Actually you have more than a 50% chance of a girl, my dr said that more girls are born so it's not a 50/50.

I think if your interested in learning about all the myths then go for it, but that's all it is, a myth.  The only way to get the gender you want is to have genetic testing done and create a test tube baby.

Personally I've found the Chinese Birth Chart to be the most accurate, with all my friends and family it's about 80% accurate.  BUT it's just for fun.

I think its laughable.  I have read the book.  There have been SO many theories on how to produce a specific gender - all have shown to be about 50% correct when independently studied an all "other" variables are excluded.  Interesting because you have a 50% chance of getting either gender.
